Great immersive world. Difficult combat that is rewarding once you learn it. Probably. Excellent storyline. Does an okay job masking frame rate drops, it feels relatively smooth even when your FPS is actually drawing a sine wave. And that's about all the pros I can bring up.

The bugs are absolutely infuriating though. Literally anything has a chance of softlocking the game. Oh, you tabbed out of the borderless window at the wrong second? Well, I guess you're stuck on an eternal loading screen now. Dared to read a treasure map while sitting on your horse? Softlock. This game is as bug-ridden as it gets. It's basically early access.

And then don't get me started on the ♥♥♥♥ up save system. I get it, devs, you played diablo 2 on ladder when you were young and it seemed like a great idea to erase peoples' progress. The very, very minimal amount of autosaves means that if you dare to wander off to a segment of the world with no convenient alchemy bench or schnapps vendor, and you may run the risk of dying to some random cuman ambush, so you're literally scavenging for a usable bed. That's not good game design and it's unacceptable that you have to MOD this garbage out.

Edit from post-1.3: the patch made the game much more acceptable in a few aspects. I went back in and finished the game from the spot I was in and it seems like they patched up the game breaking bugs and also allowed saving on quitting. With that I can now in good conscience recommend the game.

Zachtronics is a household name in challenging and original puzzle games. Opus Magnum lives up to the high standards set before - I absolutely recommend giving this game a shot.

I've had an absolute blast with this DLC. The amount of content and depth added is amazing.
