How dare you make such an awesome game and hand it out for free?!
If you're not planning on taking my money, then I'll make you.
Thank you for your wonderful work.

An absolutely fantastic game about taking demon girls from hell and bringing them into an even worse place called "Earth".

Jokes aside, this game is really sweet and cute. It's a very short puzzle game.

The artstyle is beautiful, the girls are adorable, and the puzzles are well thought out, there's even a surprise at the end.
What is there not to like about this game? Go ahead and try it out for yourself, it's free!

When playing 0, you feel like you're playing a masterpiece, but when you're playing Kiwami you feel like you only get a slice of that masterpiece. It's not a bad game by a long shot, but it fails to stand on it's own because you can see a lot of reused ideas/assets/animations and so on from 0.

Overall it's worth playing if you want more of Yakuza series but don't expect it to be as good as 0.

Another thing I'd like to mention is the story - it's pretty bad. Honestly, the only interesting part of it wasn't well realized. While 0 is a 2 character game, Kiwami is strictly Kiryu only, while it could've been Kiryu and Nishiki either from the past or present.

To sum it up, it's a good Majima Simulator.

Edit.
After the constant request of multiple people I have to add a few more bits of information that might be important.

Kiwami 1 is a remake of the first game in the series - Yakuza 1. (Released in December 8, 2005 originally for PS2)
To which should I say, is just shameful. The game that started it all had the least attention paid to it, the remake that is. And it's a huge pity, this game could've been something wonderful and really memorable had it been more polished and given more time for development.

For starters, having a second character playable, i.e. Nishiki would've improved this game big time. Think of it to the Majima arc in 0 but with time aspect. Again, whether it would've been in the past or present, doesn't matter. It could've been interesting either way.

But as seen from the game, they decided to cut this idea completely by tossing a few "explanation" cutscenes into the story, which play last after the Kiryu ones.

I've consulted a few people about this and some are actually against of having Nishiki playable, saying that it wouldn't add much to the story. To which I say is complete nonsense. Personally I think it would add a huge impact to the final battle.
You'd feel as if you're fighting yourself. Just think of it like this, the more abilities/moves you unlock as Nishiki the stronger he becomes at the final confrontation with Kiryu, I think it could've been amazing.

As the game stands, during the final confrontation I felt nothing, there was no tension, no rivalry, nothing.
It was a one boss tossed after another. "Oh right there's that guy you need to fight too" sort of deal.

Just think of how many encounters Kiryu had with Nishiki throughout the whole game? TWO. Two whole encounters. Of course there was no tension, that's not how you treat the main antagonist/rival.

I understand that the remake should keep true to the original but adding this would only benefit the game, not hurt it.

Now let's talk about what happened and why. Yakuza 0 which is a completely new game, not a remake which is the sixth main entry, it was released in 12/03/2015 in Japan and in 24/01/2017 for the rest of the world.
Kiwami 1 on the other hand is a remake of the first entry in the series, based on the same engine of 0, was released originally in 21/01/2016 in Japan and in 29/08/2017 for the rest of the world.

So, in less than a year they've made Kiwami 1 based on the assets of 0, and it shows, just by playing it you see the quality drop by a mile compared to 0. So again, as I've stated above, this game needed more time to be completed. I'm not sure what the reason was behind the rush. Perhaps they wanted to make a quick cash in, or they had time restraints because of another project, if someone knows why, please leave a comment.

In conclusion I just want to recap that it's a huge shame K1 didn't get the proper treatment it deserved.

A worthy successor to the hotline miami, my only wish that the game would go on for a bit longer.

Great game concept ruined by the most incompetent, untrustworthy, dishonest, lying developers.

Another licenced killer turned into a joke for survivors to loop and abuse.

"We don't want to make knee-jerk reactions after the Freddy incident". - Not_Queen
Yeah right this is the exact same situation if not worse.

Basically Ghostface got released and in the same patchnotes they announced that the "hotfix" (which was a blatant nerf), was coming later. So you could've bought a mid-tier killer then which turned into low tier afterwards.

You'd think that any competent developer would let new content sit for a bit for the community to decide if it's too strong or weak before making any changes. But no, they don't really care about the community (or their opinion) which actually supports their game the most - those who have over 1k hours.

However they do care about people who have just started playing, that's why they've got to make it as easy as possible for them.
Killer players? Who cares about those? Ha! 4>1.

So what they did was the same exact thing what happened to Freddy.

So if you're going to buy this DLC now, what do you get exactly?

You get a low-mid tier killer that's only viable on low ranks and absolutely gets destroyed in high ranks because people actually use their mouse to look around rendering your power useless and turning you into a basic m1 killer with no power.

And you get 2 worthless perk and one somewhat decent perk for information that could be easily countered by survivors.

I can't wait for this game to die because of countless horrible decisions and terrible business practices.

Very cute small puzzle game. However, don't expect much from it. You can beat it under 2 hours.

If you want to show your support to Team Salvato this is one of the choices to do so. You can also buy this pack directly from their store since valve takes some of the cut on all purchases on steam.

Regarding the OST I'm honestly a bit disappointed since not all the tracks are included. Some variations are missing and have to be ripped directly from the game. Most of missing variations are avaliable on youtube.

Doki Doki Literature Club is a beautiful and cute visual novel written and composed by Dan Salvato, character art is drawn by Satchely and background art by Velinquent.

In this VN you have to "write your way into one of the girls heart".

Writing poems is an unique mechanic in this game, when usually in other VNs you have to achieve girl's heart via dialogue choices and such, however in DDLC it all comes down to how you prefer your poems. From cheery to bittersweet, from cheery to horror. You call it! It all depends on your own preferences and taste.

There are 4 girls in game and all of them have different poem tastes, so good luck trying to get the one you like the most!

I don't watch to describe everything about this game since there's so much to discover on your own, not to mention how cute some of the girls are.

There is no reason not to try out this game even if you have never played visual novels before, it's worth a shot, you might enjoy it like I did. I never had any interest in visual novels before Doki Doki Literature Club, so I've played it completely blind and didn't regret a single thing.

So, go on and try it if you hadn't already!

Oh, and one more thing - Yuri is the best girl.
