Almost There: The Platformer is okay, it certainly isn't good, and I think it really lacks in the fun factor. For me, I didn't play it much, because I couldn't get into it. The game is difficult though not unfair. It's just a minimalist range-inducing platforming game with some really frustrating levels and mechanics.

The reason I am giving it a thumbs down is because it really doesn't add much to what's there available and for me personally, it wasn't really fun. It's fine as a part of a bundle, as that's how most people have come into playing this game, but it's definitely not worth the base price of $9.99. I also probably will not go back to finish it, because I am always dealing with not enough time to play all of the games that I would like to.

Controls
They feel really strange, especially the cling and jumping off vertical surfaces. Yes, you do get used to them after a while, but I am sure if I go back for another session, it would feel just as awkward until I get used to it again.

The speed boost after moving a certain distance in one direction is also really odd in feeling, why not just let the player hold down a button to speed up or to slow down? I realize that this is also part of the game design, but for me, awkward is awkward, and I am going to point it out and let you know how I think it would be better.

Graphics and Music
What you see is what you get, nothing fancy.

Audience
Rage-inducing platformer enthusiasts only, and I typically have fun/enjoy these kinds of games, but I wasn't really having fun with this one.

Take Home Point
There are just too many other similar games that are available, many of them for cheaper and have higher production value, and in my opinion, are more fun. So why bother with this one?

Yeah, this is why I passed on this game. It didn't look like it was almost there.
