Letter Vetter is not my kind of a game. Maybe for some people it's enjoyable, relaxing, and fun, but for me, the hour I put into it felt meaningless. Harsh as that may seem, I really had to stop playing because I was so bored out of my mind.

I kept an open mind going in, I really did. I thought the concept would work. And a description that says that it balances an Agatha Christie mystery and Tolkien's the shire will get my interest fairly quickly. Once the game got going, my eyes started to stray, my mind started to wander, and I wasn't really sure what I was doing rather quickly.

It's not that I don't understand the game. I understand it perfectly fine. You play as someone scanning physical correspondences coming and going from the town and try to make sure there are no war criminals lingering around in the small place by trying to catch suspicious letters. You can send up to two suspicious letters per day to your superior, who will then give you feedback on the letters you send.

To be honest, I was trying to scrutinize the letters and envelopes as I was instructed to do, I sent off anything suspicious I thought was worth mentioning, and I often got feedback that what I was sending was meaningless. I got really bored after a while and didn't think playing more would yield more meaningful results for me.

If you want to see what I was dealing with, here's pretty much the whole time I had the game on:

On top of that the UI doesn't work well and mostly doesn't make sense. You only have the time between looking the envelope and the letter to decide whether to send it off to your superior. When you have a stack of letters to review and you can only send on two letters, wouldn't it make sense if you could look at all of them and then decide which ones to forward?

Letter Vetter simply failed to capture my interest and so I decided to move on. Like I said, someone might find it interesting, but it's just not for me. And as such, I cannot recommend it.

I received the product for free. I did not receive any compensation to write this review. The opinions represented here are entirely my own and were not influenced in any way.

Yes, good point. I think you almost have to go in with a paranoid mentality looking at the letters. But I guess my eye wasn't sharp enough to catch some of the clues, whereas the things I tried to link to suspicion yielded nothing significance. I am definitely going to watch out for more reviews of this game and see how other people think. If it's truly something I am missing and the mechanics of the letter sorting/sending can be fixed, I might give it another go in the future.

It almost seems like this might have been trying to emphasize a point about being paranoid or finding problems where there aren't any, but I can't imagine you'd only find fake threats and that's the end of it.

@cacrobia, I understand it, it's definitely not clear in its direction.

@AviaRa, I can totally relate.

@thorm81, you are welcome. I think I am in the same boat, post trying it.

@janner66, good point, I totally missed it. I would love to be able to have something more in the UI to be able to select sections of passages that I find suspicious, send it on, and to get proper feedback about why or not those passages are suspicious. I really dislike the fact that you cannot pick your letters after looking at all of them for the day, or to swap out letters that you decide to send on. It's like taking on a new job, with invisible walls for restrictions that don't make any sense. That drove me nuts.

I like the concept of this but it sounds like it isn't done very well. You need some sort of example letter to point you in the right direction as to what to look for or feedback sequence to warn you when you have missed something. Basically, it needs a tutorial with some suspicious letters so you get the idea of what you must look for.

I watched 15 minutes of your video and it seemed like you didn't really know what you were looking for. Personally, I would have flagged up the second letter with the paint as he mentions birds coming back to England. A reference to warplanes returning perhaps? Who knows? That is the trouble!

I think with a few tweaks this could be an interesting title but currently it's like starting a new job without any training and being expected to get on with it.

I think I'll follow this though and see if they improve it. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for your review, I thought the premise sounded good, but I would have hated playing this game.

I'm honestly uninterested just from looking at its Store Page. Not really thrilled to give it a try.

Thanks for reading! I would love to see someone else play it and tell me what I am missing out on, but until then, I am going to leave this alone.
