Bastion is a strange game best known for it's narrator which is more like a commentator but is done so well that you never get annoyed by him repeating itself.

The art is amazing as the ground raises from the bottom of the screen so you can walk on which makes exploring and finding secrets very rewarding. The general appearance of the levels and characters is very well done and thought out. Though I diddnt like the isometric type of view I wasnt punished by falling off the edge with a loss of life, the isometric view gives you the gods eye view which obviously works well with the narrator.

The combat got repetitive but it was challenging you are able to block and use melee and ranged weapons. There are multiple weapons and you are able to customize your character even to suit the style you want such as using an arrow and a blunderbuss or 2 different melee weapons, or the 1 melee weapon and 1 ranged weapon. But you will always have a shield in Bastion which does resemble an old shoot em up at times.

Bastion has a lot of life with it's replayability, the god shrine is a great idea, letting the enemy get stronger and getting more experience is a great idea. I finished the game and was given the option to play through it again but with all the unlocks available so its a great game for the completionists out there.

Though I do believe it is overrated just a bit it obviously gets a lot of attention because of the narrator. If you like a challenge and good game design play!
