[[[ First negative review 18th March 2018 / Positive review now below this one ]]]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I recently joined a racing league, it's awesome, the lads are all good guys and it runs every Sunday with practice, quali, race.

I've spent a week practicing for this weeks race. Lap after lap, setup tweak after setup tweak. Getting wound up at my lack of speed, then slowly getting faster and faster.

Then comes race day. Practice all good. Quali all good.

Waiting for race to start in the lobby and the game just jumps to the main menu out of nowhere.
Absolutely fuming.

The online racing is fantastic when it works, but when you've spent (Wasted) a week building up to a race for it to then f**k up like it did/does, it doesn't matter how good the game 'Can' be, because you're left feeling like you've wasted your time and money.

[[[ Now changed to a Positive review 6th June 2018 ]]]

OK...So after more game time, more patches and more pondering...
I can now give PC2 a positive review. Since my last review (Negative) I've been kicked from a server once due to a game glitch, not bad for the amount of time I've been in the online lobbies.

On top of that, the most recent patch has massively calmed down Hitler, I mean race director as far as track limits. They are much more realistic/forgiving now.

I've enjoyed some of the best racing online I've ever experienced in PC2 at this point.

There are still some weird glitches when it comes to car setup, often the gear ratios are all over the place when you load them up, and sometimes you can't change a setting unless you back out of the menu and enter it again.

Firstly...
Season one and two of Telltales The Walking Dead:
"THE best thing I have played, seen.....experienced."
Season three (A new frontier) is very, very good! But it doesn't have the same 'feeling' somehow.

400 Days...
A DLC interlude between seasons 1 and 2.

This DLC basically gives you 5 short stories, from 5 different perspectives. Good or bad?

Well. If you didn't have this DLC, you wouldn't miss out on anything much regards season 1 and 2 as such. But...If you take it for what it is, a mini game filler you'll appreciate that it gives you at least a few 'Oh that's!' moments.

The stories themselves are short at anywhere between 10-20 minutes each depending on how you play them. The characters are good, personable and well thought out to give a variation from the main games 'group(s)'.

The fact that the stories do tie seasons 1 and 2 together makes it more appreciable, once you crack on with season 2.

So is it worth it?
For me, yes. If you play it and take it as it happens, enjoy each individual stories characters and their situations then I think you'll enjoy it too. If you play through expecting anything like season 1, then you'll probably be a little disappointed. Possibly later appreciating it as you notice certain things carried over into season 2.

Price wise, I would have happily paid £15 for this and felt that the work gone into it was value for money, again, especially as it flows into season 2.

The stories...

Let me just say...
Season one and two of Telltales The Walking Dead:
"THE best thing I have played, seen.....experienced."

Season three (A new frontier) is very, very good! But it doesn't have the same 'feeling' somehow.

Why not...
Don't get me wrong, this is a great installment of TWD series. If you enjoyed seasons 1 and 2, then I'm confident that most will enjoy this.

The characters I have no issue with at all, thankfully you still come across some great ones. Some 'really' great ones in fact. You may love them, hate them or be on the fence about them. But there WILL be at least a few that you will appreciate and feel like you know their personality, great personalities they are too.

So...Great characters.

The story as it unfolds? Well that's good too. It has become a little more focused on surviving the elements and fellow human being rather than being all out Walker war, and that's great. You still feel immersed and are often left wondering what's coming next.

I think it 'just' falls short of seasons 1 and 2 simply because the story although still good, is a little more fragmented, with a little more going on. While some may see that as a positive thing, I just see it as a 'shift' or 'change' that somehow feels different, not necessarily a bad thing, just not quite season 1.

Seasons 1 and 2 both mastered the art of leaving me wanting more, wondering what will come next. Season 3 did fall a little short in this area for me. It felt a little too much like an 'ending' rather than an unfinished story.

Saying that, as season 4 is now in the making, I bet most of us are reminiscing over how season 3 (A new frontier) left our characters. The variation at the end of this season has no doubt been brought back into our thoughts, so although it felt like an ending...We are now pondering over how things will proceed.

Fingers crossed season 4 will at least match up to season 3, here's hoping it matches the original and best - season 1.

Game conclusion...
If you love immersive story based RPG's then you will love The Walking dead in its entirety. If you enjoyed season 1, then you can't not buy into the following seasons.

Well then...
If you love immersive story based RPG's then you will love The Walking dead season 1...And season 2.

Season one is the absolute pinnacle (So far out of three seasons) for me, it has a fantastic balance of everything you want in this type of game.

In Season 2 the focus of the story switches a little more towards a 'Survival against the elements' and bad guys rather than being mainly focused on the Walkers. This is fine, the story still flows nicely and you will still feel emotional connections with characters.

As in Season 1 you will feel happiness, empathy, sadness, surprise and much more. There are some very surprising moments and the characters (All of them) are drawn and created very well. Their personalities are all individual and unique.

For me, Season 1 edges it as the 'Original and best' and I can't quite put my finger on why. The only possible thing I can think of is that there's a 'Beginning' to the story of Season 1...Season two obviously 'Continues' rather than 'Introduces' you to the game. Very hard to choose a fave, they are both fantastic.

400 Days Interlude?
I would highly recommend playing the 400 Days DLC/Interlude between Seasons 1 and 2. It's not imperative to do so, but it's an interesting view from five different characters, and they will lead into giving you some 'Oh!' kind of surprise/realisation moments in Season 2. :-)

Purchase it on Steam here.

I say experiencing because that's what it felt like to me...As a game, it's quite linear in it's path (Obviously) though you do have chances to change events and outcomes by making decisions. (Despite popular belief.)

The characters feel like they have very real and genuine personality, personality that you'll feel a connection to in some form or another. Love them, hate them...Be on the fence about them. The emotions are real.

Early Access Review
Another of those 'Must try' ones, just to experience it, especially if you use a real plank which you can configure within the game (So that the size matches). It won't keep you going for very long, but could be a good one for new players/members of the family/friends who have never tried VR.

Even though me and three members of family are scared to death of heights and couldn't even walk the plank, It hasn't been played much since.

Reason being, My two kids (9+10) both tried it after we failed, and they both just did it straight away. Then the 'Buzz' of it just seemed to fade away after they had done it.

The kids did carry on enjoying the 'Rocket' part flying around putting fires out for a short time, but that soon faded away too.

Good
  1. - Good if a few of your are genuinely scared of heights (Laugh at each other cowering in the house!
  2. - Possibly a good one to show VR newbies.

Hmmm
  1. - Replay ability very limited.

One to grab when it's on offer (I bought at 50% discount). Reason being the longevity may differ wildly between players. It's one of those 'Must try' ones, just because it works so well and is intuitive to use. All the family can play and have some good fun.

Good
  1. - Intuitive
  2. - Very well put together, anything drawn can be saved locally on your PC.
  3. - A good 'Get away' to chill out and relax.
  4. - Great range of brushes and arty tools.

Hmmm
  1. - Replay ability may differ wildly. Kids or very arty/talented types will get more out of it.
  2. - Pricey unless it's on offer.

Audioshield is one you should have in your library!
The video's out there do not do justice to the 'Feeling' you get when playing. It's a very satisfying game to play, with the added bonus of the Music you love! Search Youtube for your fave video's and start having fun!

Good
  1. - Music of your choice from Youtube.
  2. - Music from your PC/iTunes/Hard drive etc.
  3. - Runs quickly and very smoothly (GTX1080 and I7-6700K).
  4. - A good one to play more than once as the open choice of music means you want to keep trying new songs.

Hmmm
  1. - The Youtube 'URL' feature needs work, doesn't seem very intuitive and actually doesn't seem to work for me (Copying/Pasting URL gives blank page).

Fantastic.

The graphics, the ambiance, the sound...All amounts to an awesome experience!

This is one of the first things I show family/friends on the Vive, just because it's guaranteed to make them say wow every time. Even my 62yr old Mum is excited to see more and keeps asking me about it!

Fingers crossed that a full experience/game is still being worked on.

Good fun to play, and hysterical to watch others play too!

A great game to have a laugh with your friends and family.

Good
  1. - Small download
  2. - Runs quickly and very smoothly (GTX1080 and I7-6700K).
  3. - A good one to play more than once.

Hmmm
  1. - Can't seem to view the high scores? Play area just says 'Nick' and 'Score' with no scores.
