Awhile ago this game was first released, and I was skeptical. I never picked it up when it came out on the 28 of June 2016.
But since it came up very cheap on Fanatical.com I was hard pressed, purchasing it I expected something somewhat generic and mediocre. A lot of people have discredited it as I once did. The story is surprisingly immersive, if you can bother to reach its epicentre. I guess as far as it's audiowork goes it's honestly not too bad. Lip Sync definitely without a doubt needs some work. The environments you fight in are memorable though at times tedious. And honestly. I enjoyed the combat. However, it's not without its pitfalls. Get wedged in a corner or area and you're practically dead meat, unless you can balance between offensive techniques and offence. This isn't a game, even on easy that you can just slash and slash, hack hack slash, shoot. It actually requires a fair bit of strategy, sometimes enemies have shields, some have ranged, everything from snipers to shotguns. You yourself have access to all of this. Under three combat styles lie the various trees. Technomancer | Rogue | Guardian | Warrior. Mindlessly flailing around and not paying attention will get you killed quickly. As will not being able to time a parry correctly. It's all about timing, watching attack patterns and the like.

From what I assumed was a shallow and quite unappealing game, gameplay wise. Turned out to be something I enjoyed. And spent a total of 64 hours on it, alone. Maybe it's just the kinda game I enjoy, or maybe it's the kinda niche I love. Regardless I enjoy this game a lot, maybe others would. Take my review with a grain of salt.
