FFXIV: Shadowbringers is a great expansion. Great by a lot of standards.
The story is amazing and kept me interested all the way to the end. It's brilliant and thrilling by MMO standards, and then you remember it's a Final Fantasy game and probably the best story in an FF game for a while. It's not often that I can say a video game has gotten me to the brink of tears, or filled me with such resolve that I have to see it through to the end.

This is accompanied by the soundtrack.

The soundtrack by Masayoshi Soken, who has done a lot of the OST for FFXIV, does a great job and tugging your heart strings and getting your emotions riled up. It really gives off a "high fantasy" vibe, especially in the later areas. Like I mentioned earlier, the story and this soundtrack really get you fired up to journey through this expansion. If you don't mind the game being spoiled for you, I highly recommend listening to the soundtrack on youtube, especially the main theme - Shadowbringers.

The areas and dungeons are stunning and, though some areas feel highly like previous expansions' areas, are unique and colorful and are sure to draw you in. One of my favorite dungeons in particular is the final one of the Main Scenario Quest, it WILL catch you off guard, like it did me.

Overall this is a fantastic expansion, one that easily rivals Heavensward in both story and content. A breath of fresh air after the mediocre experience that was Stormblood. It's not a surprise that many people are now flocking from other MMOs to finally join in on Final Fantasy XIV.

If you prefer a numbered rating system, this expansion gets a 9/10.

Now only if they could fix the "A Realm Reborn" part of the story...
