Also Corpse’s critique is quite laughable. I have 1k hours in a game I don’t like and it was also because I enjoyed the people I was playing with more than the game itself.
like tabs being in early access for a year is way better as well as if we consider the unit creator update which was a massive update and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good one, and they are squashing bugs as well, and the game is still fun despite a lack of major overhauls.
back to vrchat; 4 years without major updates that are really cool or make the game better alltogether? thats more then ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unacceptable, and the fact that the content creation tools are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ useless?
also the need for security systems? 4 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years and they haven't made any robust security systems? like seriously when among us blew up the anti cheat was rushed and hot garbage, and then it improved a lot in the span of several months.
well then, looks like i'm gonna use my cosmos elsewhere.
Did you just ignore the part where I talked about the need for robust security and permission systems? Perhaps when joining a locally-hosted instance, the app could display a warning like it already does for Labs worlds? Or perhaps you could only join local instances from people you trust? Again, the fact that this exists in other apps (NEOS, OpenSim, etc) means it's entirely possible to create a secure sandboxed environment for this kind of thing—even Garry's Mod is capable of such a feat.
The biggest issue with 25 avatars is not only that it was previously 16 (they only upped the count recently to tease people for VRC+) but that the limit is purely artificial. All avatars aren't stored as all data for that avatar, but instead as a UUID to access that avatar from the VRC servers. It takes less than kilobytes worth of data to store 100 avatars for a single account.
Additionally, how are comparisons to Second Life incompatible? They're both virtual shared space applications with an enormous focus on user generated content and social interaction. Second life has been out for so long and has been so successful that it should be considered a springboard for designing a VSS app. If VRChat is floundering somewhere that SL succeeds, it proves a deficient in researching and developing VRC.
The game is still in alpha, there are going to be many many bugs, I've had problems with the 000byte no connect, but a simple restart of the game fixes it instantly. Hosting locally would bring in a lot of security issues imo. Vrchat+ is not forced upon you either, 25 avatars is plenty, and the fact that they pretty much let you build anything (within Tos reason) is pretty big. I would understand this review being more applicable if the game was beta or otherwise. Also trying to compare this to second life which has been out for many many years is comparing apples to bananas imo. Ive never had vrchat "bluescreen" me either, but alas still early access and a game like this will take a long time to fix up bugs and what not.
