ELDEN RING SotE thoughts (32 hours):

- first, the scenery and world look beautiful and is probably the greatest-looking thing that Fromsoft has put out: a lot of incredible areas. The framerate issues are really rough though and detract from the game so much. I don't understand how the base game runs at a consistent 60 the whole time and the final boss is putting my game to 20 frames during an attack??? I have a 4060 and the overworld dipped to 40 frames at times but most of the time it was fine.

- A lot of the bosses felt soul-less??? like only 2 or 3 in the game have cutscenes? we are fighting the mother of the fingers and is there no cutscene or anything? It's hard not to compare this to Bloodborne DLC where they have at least 3 spectacular bosses all with interesting and important lore in the base game. The bug lady guarding the sacred tree has no dialogue and no cutscene but she is guarding this incredibly important world item? It just feels strange. Otherwise, I enjoyed the new bosses in the DLC but I wish they were more important or treated as more important. The final boss was mechanically interesting but I think pushed the souls formula way too hard.

- I had no problem with the difficulty aside from the final boss I couldn't do as strength with Greatsword because of how his attacks are structured. I am unsure why they put Relanna so early when she is the hardest fight in the DLC aside from the final. I think she will 100% get nerfed in some way.

- I am conflicted about the story. I was not impressed and really disappointed with the final boss from a story perspective and wish they had gone over some other stuff in the base game. The final boss is cool but as the finale? Also, the ending does not feel satisfying at all? Miquella was so hyped up and for that :/

- final thoughts: I was really expecting some life-changing stuff in this DLC. Messmer was a fantastic boss and is one of my favs. The rest were cool but didn't have enough personality and were just kinda there. I had the most fun when I was cheesing the final boss with lion's claw giant hammer instead of trying to actually do it. Overall, the DLC has so much good stuff but still suffers from some weird, bloated boss design and non-rewarding exploration. Thank you for another cook book!

Play Lies of P or Bloodborne again
