I enjoyed this game a lot. I followed it right from creation to where it is now. Honestly, it was quite creepy at first and I loved the survival aspects, but BEWARE... Reading almost any spoilers could ruin the experience. Also, the large library of mods are great too!

That was my 2017 opinion (7.2 hours). I'll give it an update now. This game has really grown over time and I'm enjoying seeing the new mods and themes take fruition. This is one of those games that is extremely boring... Until you get into mods. Ooohh the mods! There's nothing better than sitting down and clicking on random things, booting up a game and messing around with aliens, insane vehicles and the fabric of reality. The multiplayer servers are always a blast and it's definitely worth whatever I paid for it all those years ago when my friend kept begging for me to play it.

That was my 2020 opinion (21.3 hours). While it's still fun to occasionally goof around in, the servers have definitely been on a decline. Nowadays it's hard to find a community that isn't a carbon copy or riddled with children 12 and under. I would say it's lost its spark, but it's more likely that I'm just out of the target demographic now. I still feel that it's worth a try for any up and coming gamers out there.

That was my 2021 opinion (~130 hours). I like to check back on the game every so often, but it still doesn't feel the way it used to. I've played 193 hours according to Steam now (Jan 2023), but it feels like a lot longer. It followed me throughout my childhood before I even had my own proper Steam account to now, and while I'm glad it was there for me, I think its time is up for me. I'm hoping S&Box will be fun, but it hasn't released yet. Thank you, Gmod, for the good childhood memories.
