This is a neat idea. Totally see why people like and I kind of like it too. That means I don't hate elements of it, I'm just really annoyed by it. Old World is not trying to reinvent the wheel, but it is being smart and taking ideas from multiple genres and putting them in a 4x strategy game. Like the heir and family system is lite version of what you see in Crusader Kings. With that said...

There's a reason a stopped playing Crusader Kings. These ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ are never happy. I got a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ family raising a rebellion because they don't have lavender. LAVENDER! They can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ smell nice after a bath so they're raising a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rebellion! Lavender is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 4 TECHS IN at game start ASSUMING I even draw the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cards to research it, because again, RANDOM research, my 4x bane.

That means these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ people are mad at you for no reason for the first quarter of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. Favor them in an event choice, build them a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ city. They don't care, they want ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lavender.

Look, I have family drama irl, I don't need virtual family drama when I want to do is build a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ quarry. I don't even think this is worth giving a bad review to the game for. Its kind of good outside of it doing some things I find super annoying. Like Pokemon Trainer, "I'm really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying, Charizard." but alas.

Like I can totally see myself enjoying this until I have to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ deal with this stupid ♥♥♥♥ and you have to deal with that a lot, but I bought the DLC after the humble bundle thing and now I'm just ♥♥♥♥. Sort of have to like it and play it else I'm down some $30 extra bucks. So I guess I'll just bash my head until the annoying stuff doesn't bother me anymore. Until then...

Update: Yeah I've been at this all day on my day off today and I just legit don't like this. Every turn there are like 50 events for 30 people I don't know and I don't care about. I DON'T GIVE A ♥♥♥♥ ABOUT THESE PEOPLE! I just want to kill some barbarian tribes and build a city.

Yes there are some good things are but everything is implemented like ♥♥♥♥. The Family system is too numerous, intrusive, and micromanagement heavy. I'm getting old. My eyes aren't what they use to be and I'm getting tired and a headache from games demanding I read ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ small text for the sake of reading small text. I got like 500+ in Stellaris and EU4. I can stomach and deal with it if that text has some impact on me but here. ♥♥♥♥ this.

Whats that saying, the human brain can only remember about 150 names associated with faces or some form of that and this game expects me to give two ♥♥♥♥♥ about the 50 - 100 it dumps on me after 10 turns. Just... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ yourself you pretentious piece of ♥♥♥♥ game. I have other games that will let me ♥♥♥♥ a country up without it requiring me to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ deal with this.

If I get mad at a game after some 10+ hours that means it wasn't doing anything to keep my attention from getting pissed at it after that point. Could of been ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wasting my time in Rimworld getting reamed by mech raids but instead I decided to listen to this hype and try this. ♥♥♥♥ this, I can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ play this game unless I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ drunk enough to stop caring about every event and have a UI mod installed on it to make the text more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ legible.

Bought it the week it came out. Had fun, always wanted to play but never had the system for it. Heard they were going to make a bunch of updates so stopped playing it to let them work on it.

Finally come back to play again now that all the extra work is done.
