Note: I got this in a Humble Bundle that I bought just for another game in the bundle, so I feel as if I got it for free.

The Summary
-Browse through the files on a gamer girl's computer, uncovering drama in her friend group and learning about the character.
-Listen to an incredibly awkward couple try and get together
-While listening to them, play a horribly boring "MMORPG" and read PMs that are being sent to you while you are playing
-BOOBS?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!

The Ugly
-Girl must be running a distro of Linux coded herself, 'cause the UI is horrible to work with
-This wouldn't be a significant problem, if not combined with the other issue of this game running terribly. The mouse moved with unforgivable amounts of ghosting, so that operating the game is a pain. (750 ti, nothing maxed out on control panel)
-The game inside the game is obviously incredibly unpolished, I had allies running across areas no other characters could and the pathing getting my character stuck on every other corner.
-Did I mention how boring the game is? I know it's just a vehicle to tell the story, but when you have 10+ second gaps between the voice conversations, i'd better have something engaging to do during that time.

The Good
-For someone who values their game time pretty significantly, it was at least engaging enough to keep me to the end (even though I was hoping it was over soon towards the end).
-Story wasn't anything to complain about, I was satisfied with the story arc unlike most other people
-Mixing the live action with the voice acting with the computer using was a really cool way to tell a story, and definitely helped me feel like it was real.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this game, it just has too little substance and too much to wade through to find it. Maybe if you are a huge fan of this gameplayless narrative genre then you could walk away happy, but even then there are better titles like this.

Oh, and maybe if you like girls in lingerie.

But I'm gay, what do I know?

Please don't buy this even for $0.50. The gameplay goes as follows.

1) You walk through one of three doors with no indication as to what any of them do.
2) A puppet says something about your life like "You were born a ginger without a soul" or "You got your allowance raised"
3) You are put into a lightly furnished room with nothing to do.
4) You walk through one of four doors in the room (Absolutely nothing indicates what each one does)
5) A puppet tells you that you died or some fact about the next stage of your life if you didn't die (Seemingly randomly)
6) You are put into a room that reflects your new age, return to step 4 until you die.

THIS IS THE ENTIRE GAME.

9/10 - This beautiful assembly of perfectly put together gameplay, audio, and story left me humming it's themes for days after I finished it.

Transistor is a RPG very much like Bastion. Each ability you get has two individual functions as well as modifying any other function. This brought the deck builder out in me, and left me constantly reconfiguring my setup for maxiumum efficiency, I spent copious amounts of time staring at my loadout and considering each potential combination, almost like this was a puzzle game. Also, the "programming" of abilities in time freeze has always been a favorite mechanic of mine and is done well here.

The audio is so perfectly integrated with the game that every scene evokes intense emotion. The battle music is badass as well as beautiful, varying with the environment and if you're in planning mode so it never gets dull. After I finished it I continued to listen to this great soundtrack and it would come back in my head whenever I was in quiet.

The world is so incredibly interesting that walking down the street, inspecting computer terminals, and reading character bios was as captivating as fighting the robots that roam said streets. The story unfolds well and kept me hooked with it's mystery.

Transistor was a great experience that I would push anyone to play for only $20. The only thing holding this game back from me giving it a 10/10 was that the story was a little anti-climactic at the end but I still enjoyed it from cover to cover.
