Great library of and tool for animated wallpapers. Reasonable price, a ton of content, simple editor, optional editor functionality extension as DLC.

A lot of the workshop content is way oversized unfortunately (multiple hundred MB videos where a simple reencode could reduce them to way below 100 MB, or a image + effects could be 1 MB).

Personally, for the most part, I prefer low movement/calm, dark backgrounds.

I tried some free alternative programs too. They work, but they do not come close to Wallpaper Engines software quality, amount of functionality, or massive library content and community size.

If you ask yourself why/when you would use an animated wallpaper, I am not using them all the time, but sometimes. They can provide some atmosphere, or nice things to look at/have in peripheral/sit by.
