It's a fair comparison and is a good thing.
Hollow Knight sets a good base for incredible game mechanics, music, and atmosphere.
If this game had all of the above with a unique story and some unique game mechanics then it would be amongst the greats.
Hollow Knight simply set the standard for a great Metroidvania Platformer game making it a perfect comparison for new games in that genre.
I find it funny how you hate the comparison yet you will compare the Hollow Knight community to the Dark Souls community (which most find annoying).
Try and avoid contradicting yourself and being the very thing you're against.
