Last Light continues directly after the events of 2033, following the canon bad ending. The story takes a new turn when Khan reveals that one a Dark One survived, setting off a chain of events that explores the metro’s fractured political landscape. This expands beyond survival, focusing on the ideological conflicts between factions like the communists, neo-Nazis, and other groups fighting for power. The journey spans diverse stations, showcasing how humanity’s inability to change perpetuates its downfall.

The core gameplay remains largely the same, offering the same immersive combat experience. Enhancements include bigger, more detailed stations that add richness and scale, as well as a few new enemy types for fresh challenges. The no hud approach maintains immersion, and the surface world remains as brutal as ever. While the game doesn’t reinvent itself, it delivers a more polished and refined experience, improving mechanics, pacing, and atmosphere. Fans of Metro 2033 Redux will find much to appreciate here, even if it feels like a familiar continuation.
