I'm waiting on animation support before recommending the game.
Current animations feel soggy and not satisfying, the game feels far worse than Warband.
This is not a design choice, it's an error that needs fixing.

Whoever designed the melee combat doesn't know what made the originals fun to play and successful.
The mounted movement, whilst more advanced, feels less fluid than the original and Bannerlord's AI struggles to use their horses. You will constantly see knights missing their targets and going for a 100m approach to a "strafing run" to fight a single footman just standing there.
Overworld map gameplay is fine, the game in general has good quality of life barring few exceptions, most of which can be fixed with mods. The Nexus community is alive and well despite several miscommunications by Taleworlds that made some modders angry enough to leave.

Personal pet peeves: make CTRL+Space instant for speeding up time instead of having a delay, and keep the speed going for as long as I hold it even if I change direction, PLEASE Taleworlds
Also, letting go of the "look around key" (by default the key below ESC) used to snap you back to where your character is facing instantly. Bannerlord has the camera slowly turning to the default position which makes me nauseous. I'd appreciate stuff like that being togglable

All in all, Bannerlord is a decent game with great potential. It is getting updates often and beta versions are usually stable enough to play.
If you haven't played Warband, try it.
If you have, don't expect Warband II like I did. It isn't.
