A fun JRPG with a social simulator between dungeons. The Combat itself is what I would call a step above Pokemon. On higher difficulties, you need to think about weaknesses and resistances, as well as stat ups and debuffs being hugely important. The experimenting and "crafting" to get new personas can be a lot of fun if you enjoy that kind of thing.

The Social Sim is the reason most people play this over mainline SMT games. Persona 4 Golden is a decent enough coming of age story as a group of teenagers work together to solve a mystery, while learning to accept themselves and each other. There are a good handful of memorable characters, as well as a few that could very much benefit from better writing, or just being removed in general.

Now the bad news, the story is VERY anime. If you are into that kind of thing, Great! You will probably love most of the characters in this game. If not... well you will struggle with many of the Social Links. There are also quite a few things that I wish as the main character we could call out or be against, but unfortunately can't.

As an overall, Persona 4 Golden is a fun enough game with an interesting enough story to warrant a playthrough. I do think the game tries a bit too hard to convert from a fun, happy school anime, to a serious plot with darker themes, but just misses.

This game is a pile of garbage with a horrific community that loves to do nothing more than call the other side OP and complain when things don't go their way. As a Killer, prepare to get yelled at for killing people. As a Survivor, prepare to get yelled at for trying to survive. Also, your steam profile is gonna get flooded with comments as people have nothing better to do than go flame killers directly. I have no idea how this game is so popular. 10/10 love it.
