The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which low-ability individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their ability as much higher than it really is.

When I was 16, I believe, nearing the end of school, I wrote down all the different subjects that I wanted to study in university. After sorting out a great deal of them I ended up with the following list: political science, sociology, journalism, philosophy, film or media arts, and acting. That was the moment I noticed something eye opening. At first some of these subjects, for example political science and acting, appear to be vastly different, making it seem like I didn’t really have an idea where I wanted my life to be headed – to be completely honest, I still don’t. Yet there is one theme that connects all of these various subjects: I want to study nothing less than humanity itself in all its forms – be it through classical academic education or through the pursuit of the arts – arguably the most human pursuit of all.
I learned about Danish folk high schools when I met a young Danish woman during my travels through Europe and I was fascinated by the concept. After some research I found out about the IPC, a school that offers me a space to learn in an environment bound to be filled with plenty of stories and perspectives from people from all around the world, where I am encouraged to do exactly what I have been wishing to do since I was 16 years old. By attending the IPC I wish to experience a place designed for humanity to thrive: a place to learn and create, while trying to find one’s own personal path for life – and enjoying great company and support along the way.
