So you landed on the store page for a Free to Play First Person Shooter. Its free, so you are probably reading these reviews while it downloads in the background. I hope you have slow internet so you have the time to read this here. Im trying to scramble 2500 hours of Experience into this review and it will be though.

Team Fortress 2 is a team based first person shooter that revolves arround two teams (blue and red) fighting in varios modes to win at the end of a round. Some of these modes are well known from other games like Overwatch. In fact, Overwatch took alot of inspiration from Tf2. Thats not a secret allthought tf2 hasnt invented them either.

Some of these modes are:

  • Capture the Flag
  • Capture Points
  • Payload
  • Payload Race
  • King of the Hill
  • Mann vs. Machina (survival mode)
  • Many more including Community made mods/modes/maps

How do i get started?
To get acces to those gamemodes you simply open the "Find a game" tab and press casual. Select all Maps and you will get thrown into a match with up to 23 other players. But before you do that, you should probably play the tutorial. This might sounds stupid but even if you are the most hardcore Call of Duty Veteran, this game is to complex to skip the tutorial.

This game is over 10 Years old, how does it manage to keep up to other AAA titles like Overwatch?
Its community, and consistant Updates throughout those 10+ years. In fact, the community basically runs this game. Of course Valve is publishing everything, hosting servers and officially runs this game. But Pretty much all Updates have alot of community made Content. Items, Maps, Game modes and so on. And even if the community doesnt help with updates, it does its own thing anyway. Through the server browser you gain acces to a vast amount of very special private servers, that run their own maps, game modes and pretty much whatever they want. Caution is adviced of course, but if you simply hop onto one without expectations, you can have alot of fun there as well.

Items, Trading and Pay to win
Is this game pay to win?
No
There is not a single game i know of, that executes paid content as good as Tf2. Yes there is overwatch, but they only sell lootboxes containing alot of random stuff that you most of the time dont even want.
If youre still unsure about the item system, its basically like the one from CS:GO.

Conclusion
Team Fortress 2 is an old, but addictive Fps, that has its strongest parts in his community. It still recieves updates and has a very active community that seems to never die out. You can either simply enjoy the gameplay, be an active member of the community and make your own items, that might go into the actual game, or trade your way up to a small fortune. Everything is possible, but it takes time. It might takes more time then other games, but for the most people, it was well worth it.
I give this game a 10/10. It changed my life forever. I made a ton of friends here, and it made me what i am today.
