Final Verdict: BUY! Starts out slow & confusing, but once you put all the pieces together it is a masterpiece!

Before I start my review, warning: on Nvidia graphics cards this game, running on the CryEngine, runs absolutely terrible, even on high-end systems. However, there is an easy fix by following the below steps:

1. Open nVidia control panel (right click on desktop)
2. Go to program settings for Everybody's gone to the Rapture
3. Select "Low Latency Mode" - set to Ultra.
4. Click Apply
5. Exit & run game, should run perfectly now

Okay, so now that that's out of the way, let's talk about the game itself. EGTTR is a narrative-driven game. There's few game interactions and they exist solely to push the story forward. EGTTR is a pure walking simulator. It took me approximately 4 1/2 hours to complete the game, exploring as much as possible.

There's a lot of walking involved. There is technically a control key to increase speed (SHIFT), but I found that it did not work. The game map / environment is beautiful. There's lots of nooks & crannies to explore and there's a lot of detail in almost every location. The town definitely looks like it was lived in and then suddenly abandoned.

The town's stories are told in bits and pieces. There's several stories, not just the main one about the "rapture." It can be confusing because some of the stories are intertwined and told in different timelines and in different orders depending on where you visit. You have to pay close attention. However, if you do manage to keep all the information straight in your head, then you will be touched by the struggles, the lows, the highs, the relationships of all the different townsfolk.

The writing is excellent. The voice actors all did a great job. The sounds are excellent and the musical soundtrack is thrilling. You can tell that a lot of effort was put forth in the production values for this experience. This game is more about the feelings that the stories evoke, rather than the stories themselves. It is a lot like Twin Peaks in that way where if you only care about the mystery, you will miss the humanity in the story.

Of course it goes without saying that this experience is not for everyone. There is no "action" gaming. The slow walking speed is frustrating. It can be confusing exploring the town or even understanding the story. However, if you are patient & observant, I believe this experience has a huge payoff. It is one of the best narrative-driven experiences / walking simulators available for PC.

Rate 8/10.
