There is a LOT of drama at the moment, but I will try to be objective.

Personally, and that is just my personal, honest opinion - I LOVE BF2042. But I am not blind to the troubles.

I do have a heavy heart regarding the state of the game upon launch. Very concerning. I do regret the lack of many, many features that are already in BF4,. It just seems very strange that it didn't make it to BF2042. Many people have made comparisons and they are right, these features really should have been included in 2042. But let's move on.

I think what BF2042 is suffering is the general fallout of common people being tired of the large corporations pushing out unfinished products and charging premium prices for them. It does look like people have finally had enough, it started with Cyberpunk 2077, Elite Dangerous: Odyssee, etc. The negativity is, sadly, rightfully deserved.

However, there is an amazing CORE to Battlefield 2042, amazing artwork, atmosphere of despair and lack of hope in a World of 2042 (story). A stark beauty and realism to the setting which it unfolds in. Was it rushed by execs? I am afraid so. Did they have trouble creating the game because of real world events (silicon shortage, v1rus, lockd0wns)? I believe so.

Battlefield 2042 will require a LOT of LOVE from developers, and a liitle hope from us, the players, to set things straight. To truly become a great and groundbreaking Battlefield entry. For me, it hits the spot with the near-future/modern warfare setting. The story and background is very authentic and sadly, realistic. It just feels - hollow. It needs filling up. With more story. More long term goals. Especially Hazard Zone. There needs to be player Statistics across all modes! We want to know how are we doing, we want to reflect upon our gameplay, our play styles.

Tons of things are missing from BF2042. We just need to hope the developers and higher-ups in their company will open their eyes and include all those missing beautiful things and put the power a little bit more back into the hands of us - the players.

When you look deeply, you can see a lot of thought and love went into Battlefield 2042. But the truth is, for this price, we should not be trying so hard to look on the bright side of things. They knew what the players were used to, what they love about Battlefield. They had all the ingredients and schematics. It's just that a LOT of it is simply not included for some strange reason. Or maybe it is the oldest reason in the book - greed of powerful, rich men, rushing the common workers - developers. I do not know.

What I know is I will recommend this game. Even after being aware of everything. I will be playing it. I love it. It simply hits the right spot for me and it is satisfying for me. I am a very competitive and demanding FPS player, and I played many, many shooters in my time. I am 30 years old. I have one of the best PCs money can buy. I am not some weekend player who will just say "game is fine, deal with it". No, there are glaring issues. But I (and probably the world too) desperately needed an alternative to Warzone. And I got it. And it has extremely large potential. It just needs - LOVE. LOTS OF LOVE.

I will keep my fingers crossed and my mind open and wish the best of luck to the developers to find strenght and motivation to continue improving Battlefield 2042. Even after all these extremely harsh, negative reviews.

Good luck!

Excusing this behaviour of overhyping, overmarketing garbage games that don't work on release is the exact reason they will keep doing it. Speak with your wallet, not your mouth, because they don't care unless it doesn't sell.

"Even after all these extremely harsh, negative reviews." Many of them, justified. Been playing the series since BF 1942. First it was the game play that counted, then came the eye candy. Paying +60 euros for a beta... very steep and sadly a norm. Even I can afford that amount, I won't be paying it. Simply put they don't deserve our hard earned money.
Liked your comment. You're a dreamer but corporations don't care about dreamers. They just want our money. Looking back at BF V (or any other BF game) and the state of it, still many unresolved bugs-even the players pointed them and asked for a fix, the plethora of cheaters (most of them never punished) and the lack of interest for communication between EA (regardless the level) and players. The game has potential, like any other BF before. And it's not the only game...

i'm assuming you're quite young. I used to think like this, about games.... I hope you don't get stung in the wallet by AAA devs, too many times until you learn that the CEO's and higherups are NOT interested in FINISHING a game. They are only interested in MONEY. Once they have your purchase, they bin it and move on to the next title.

And it starts all over again.
its more profitable to cut as many corners as possible and hype up their product to get as many sales as possible for the least amount of work.
Phase 1: Announce a game
Phase 2: ?
Phase 3: Profit!

be smarter, don't fund the same mistakes

So your review basically says that the game is bad. But you HOPE it'll get better?? Why leave a positive review if you admit as a GAME it is not good. The atmosphere can be amazing, but does the GAME feel good? Play well? Even work? You say no to all 3, yet give it a positive review. Reviews like this, and this way of thinking in general, is why there's a cheating epidemic and unfinished games being pushed onto the masses
