I haven't been this positively surprised by an RTS since the original Men of War in 2008. This is undoubtedly the best RTS i've played in a decade.

But first off lets tackle its issues:
- Very bad camera movement reminiscent of early 00's RTS'. Acquainting yourself with the map is possible but
difficult because the camera is so restrictive. This is an annoyance but not something that kills the game by any means.
- Inability to replay the missions you want to, when you want to. If you wanna try missions again in an unspecified order you should save at the beginning of each mission and use those saves.

The good:
- The armored vehicles play a lot like in Men of War except you need dedicated tank crews to repair and man tanks.
- The maps are large, leaving space for varied environments (villages, fields, dense urban areas etc) in addition with allied forces.
- a plethora of different infantry units from various parts of the Syrian Army, Air Force Intelligence, Military Police etc. These units are more unique situationally - and require more tactical thinking - than different infantry types in Men of War.

The campaign uses a system of requisition points. You lose points by loosing armored vehicles, infantry etc and gain points by destroying enemy targets. These points can then be spent on 'Garrison' forces that may be called upon at the beginning of a mission. Surviving forces carry over into next mission and gain experience so you'll want to, say, not throw all your BMPs or ATGM infantry away on badly planned offensives because you're going to need them. Also i didn't even mention supply..
Also for those wondering about the length i believe there are 7 missions. 8 hours in and i'm currently on my 4th. The singleplayer campaign is very replayable, however. All missions have extra objectives with their own rewards (in terms of reinforcements).

The TL;DR: You like Men of War? You will like this. Guaranteed. Also devs; please give us a Deir Ezzor or Aleppo DLC. I will buy that so hard.

Riddle: Which company is seemingly at odds with basic decency and exhibits the greed and evil of a new testament Pharisee? Its Paradox!

They want to extort their playerbase? Fine, we'll just stop paying for your games.

Paradox has recently attempted a price hike on all their games with the argument that "Fluctuations in world markets and currencies makes it natural that we should review our prices like any other company" Other companies DOWNREGULATE their prices when their games get old. Not the other way around.

Even when their greedy shill of a CEO came out and announced a reversal of policy he added that Paradox would "inform people in advance" next time there is a price hike ... So they're going to persist with their greed.

This is the last time that i will be paying for a Paradox game unless this policy is reversed permanently.
