Early Access Review
Getting to the point, this game is epic.
I didn't buy it initially due to the high number of negative reviews. I read all of them at the time, including the positive. Then on a whim, i just bought the game...... and i'm so glad I did.

Honestly, 90% of the negative reviews i read, i have no idea what they were talking about. A lot of them logged more or less than an hour of game time. i'm not even sure they played more than 15 minutes and this game looks really big.

The cut scenes.... i love them. it's a story based game. They don't lag, they are mostly just the ancestor figure talking at you and they add a vital element to this complex "world" and story. i've just never been bothered by them. most are near the beginning of play as the early quests are made to set you up with getting to know the game which is really useful because there is A LOT to do and be done to progress. a few almost redundant explanations are given related to controls and standard gameplay, but they never get in your way, they are short and simply not on the level in the negative reviews.

there is a small city which is destroyed and is now yours. you can work to repair/ build this up to have a simple "economy" which can then take some of the grinding of resources off your hands. there is a tower you build to gradually increase your stats. lots of loot and crafting to do regarding your gear. i'll stop there, but already there is a huge amount of stuff to do in this game on your way to becoming "almighty".

the only thing i'd agree with in the negative comments is that the way you melee stuff is a bit strange to use. it's quite difficult to lay down your most powerful melee on mobs because to must come to a full stop very close and do some lead-up strikes which usually rag-doll your enemy away from you. the combat is fun and rewarding with a lot of variety in application. i can see that melee and some other bits can be refined and more balanced. but overall, I'm having a wonderful time with this game.

I'm not a big mmo player which this game seems to be of this type. (although you can switch to offline mode and continue on with your progress which is awesome) i played ESO and Destiny for years and enjoyed the complexity and playability of those games. this isn't quite at that level, but that's totally fine. it's great fun and it feels like the devs have more craziness on the way and there is tons to do already. there are perhaps about 9 or 10 map islands to play on. these have the feel of a large shooter pvp style map. they tend to be similar in many ways, but different enough to still spice it up. not been to the higher level islands yet.

overall, ive had 16 hour of online play and quite a bit more not connected. looking forward to playing a lot more.
