Grim Dawn, the hidden gem. With all the hype of AAA games nowadays, it is easy to miss the release of smaller games. I am grateful I got recommended Grim Dawn, as this is an excellent ARPG. The game design is super impressive, with the subtle changes to the game world, to make it feel like you are making a difference, the intelligent and organised UI to the beauty of the world itself. This game is fantastic for its price. I give it 9.5/10. Well done Crate Entertainment, you have a new Fan.

- 6 Classes, you get to pick one at level 2, another at level 10. If you select two, this makes your actual sub-class/mastery. (Soldier + Nightblade = Blademaster etc.) 15 Total. If you pick up the expansions, there is an additional 2 classes, which opens up a total of 36 sub-classes/masteries.
- Massive Customization for skills through the Devotion Tree (almost like a third class) or through skills granted by items or enchantments.
- Playstyle is unrestricted from class. Play how you want to play. (Firebreathing Dagger Warrior? Duel Wielding Pistol Ice Ranger? Summoner with all kinds of pets, alive and dead? No problem)
- You can see physical changes to game world after completing certain quests.
- NPC Voice acting feels real. (main quests only)
- Can be played online with up to 4 people. PvP is an option for servers. (Also works on Hardcore, although Permadeath still applies)
- Can trade between characters and other people online.
- Single-player / Multi-player can use the same character.
- Massive amount of items & crafting.
- Armor & Weapons have different skins and effects depending on the item.
- Easy Weapon Switching + Hotbar Switching.
- Great quality of life features, including Auto-Collect Crafting Components, Loot Filters, Weapon Swapping hotkey, etc.
- Account Shared Warehouse (for loot transfer) + Personal Stash, expansions adds more tabs plus a send all components to tab button (which is very handy).
- Teleport system for quick travel and trading. (Can make a Personal Rift (Portal) from anywhere.
- Multiple difficulty levels. (Normal, Veteran, Elite, Ultimate) + Option of going Hardcore (Permadeath) as well.
- Grim Dawn is Mod Friendly, but the game does not need mods to be fantastic.
- Forums, Discord etc are active and make it easy to find help or find friends.
- The AoM expansion adds armor appearance customization (The Illusionist Vendor), which is great if you want to look a certain way, so you are not restricted by what gear you can use.

- The game is abundant with RNG. Items & Skills.
- Level capped at 85, otherwise 100 with the expansions. No softcap.
- No Map randomization, every map/area will be the same on every playthrough. Good for memory, bad for exploration and variability.

- NPC Voicing only in main quests and could be completed.
- Absolutely no character customization. Limited to Female or Male, with no options to change body type or face / hair etc.
- It can be a bit daunting for new players, as finding the most optimal build for your playstyle is difficult.
- Unable to play with friends if they do not have the same expansions, unless you disable them (or they buy). Characters that have expansion content cannot be used when disabling the DLC.
- It is almost impossible to get the best version of every item you need for your specific build, so trading for end-game content is often easier than farming mobs or bosses.

If you are a fan of Diablo or Path of Exile or would like to get into the ARPG genre, this game is for you.

The developers are consistently updating and balancing the game. They have ironed out all the bugs from my first review, added 2 expansions which shows they still deeply care about the game, even after starting development on a brand new type of game.

For its price, it is definitely worth it. All in all. Phenomenal game.
