I'm a born again Christian, I love God, and what he's done for me, and I'm extremely thankful for everything. This is first and foremost the most important aspect of my identity - my relationship with Jesus Christ.

I study zoology and ecology. In the area of zoology my primary interest is adaptation and natural selection. Particularly in the area of parent-offspring conflict. In the area of ecology my primary interest is in the field of conservation biology. In particular, I am interested in the forces that influence loss of biodiversity at all hierarchical levels from genes to ecosystems. My favourite animals are based mostly off of adaptations: Clouded Leopard, Polar Bear, Peringuey's desert adder, and Giant Squid.

There is nothing I enjoy more than walking slowly through a great book or video game with a group of people, taking the time to notice the important details and keep track of themes that often slip by when I read on my own.

I appreciate post-modernism in the areas of art, cuisine, and culture. The truth of Jesus Christ however, does not change no matter who you are or how you think.

I thoroughly enjoy all forms of art - both the audio/visual and the written including movies, music, novels, and video games - although I understand fairly well the high level of garbage that plagues each of these categories such as dubstep, dreamworks sequels, and sonic '06. I particularly enjoy genres such as science fiction (of which Pre-Disney Star Wars is the most excellent [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ5hD9K6Cn8 ]), fantasy (of which Tolkien's writings are the best) and action-adventure (of which Naruto/Shippuden is the pinnacle [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_fqZ6gwba0 ]). The unique fairy tale lore of The Legend of Zelda should also get an honourable mention (http://www.zeldadungeon.net/2013/03/the-integrity-of-zeldas-lore/) . I believe that some works of art really are better than others, and that some people have a more refined ability to perceive quality in art. Taste is subjective to a point though, obviously (my comments above make it obvious that I'm partial to the monomyth). When perceiving quality in art I like to look at three points of analysis: 1) the work's formal and material properties; 2) its content (the thought or meaning it expresses; and 3) its context.

I plan on attending veterinary college. My aspiration to become a veterinarian is driven by my love for animals, people, medicine, and science. There are many things about veterinary medicine that I am attracted to such as the life-long learning aspect, the human-animal environment, and the ability to combine all of my knowledge into one field. My favourite companion animals are domestic dogs and donkeys. Even though a career in research is not part of my long-term goals, the process of doing research in my undergrad has given me insights into biology and ecology that are extremely difficult to get anywhere else.
