It's already pretty bad and everything I hate about Live Services (even if I admit I play some of them), and yet the geniuses at Activision Blizzard somehow keep finding new ways of making it even worse and have done the impossible at setting a bar so low that it now clips through the ground.

Deleting the objectively better original in favour of what is basically a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ update is terrible. They should of actually kept PvE instead of abandoning it in favour of what is basically a crappy event gamemode charged at $22.45.

A rather relaxing experience, and well... satisfying. It feels like your constantly progressing to a goal that while doesn't exist, is engaging and noticeable. The game is insanely addictive, it's practically a time machine that only goes forwards through skipping time. Small goals you tell yourself as hou proceed to delete and remake your factory for profection.

I still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate stingers though, and do feel like it's necessary to warn fellow arachnophobia burdened players that they will probably make you ♥♥♥♥ your pants. There is an arachnophobia mode, which replaces the spiders with pictures of the dev's cats and meowing... but somehow that's weirdly more unsettling. A passive and neutral ai setting has since been added, with the option to remove stingers if your willing to commit the one way act of enabling Advanced Game Options (aka cheats and with options for a creative like mode)

Easy Anti Cheat solves effectively nothing, and serves no purpose in social software. It will likely make the game unplayable on Linux, create easily avoidable performance problems, and is unnecessarily invasive. It won't solve the problem of malicious users, and makes modding impossible which actively hurts people who use mods for accessibility, performance, safety, or other critical use cases such as anticrash. If anything it will likely encourage malicious users to mod around it, since good modders can't do anything about it.

While I don't have as much technical/or moral problems with running anticheat on my machine (though it makes my ability to transition to Linux a lot harder then it should), others do. (and rightfully so). It's become a cheap band-aid for poor technical design in the industry, and actively makes genuine users lives more miserable.

Buy it.

It's unspoken rule that this game must be in your steam library at all time. If you haven't played it, buy it.
It's far from being a 2D Minecraft clone with heaps of depth, and content.

Even if you don't like it it's only A$15 on Steam.

(I have way more hours played over the years than what's listed due to having played almost entirely before I had a proper internet connection, and also my time in the mobile version which is also not counted)

I haven't even completed it and I can say it's worth your money

While many didn't like the changes to the core formula (sprint, story mostly focusing on chief's character and his humanity), I did find that 4 is among my favourites in the series.

It feels fast, smooth, and still feels full of character. Has a great campaign, and when you remove ordiants the multiplayer is quite fun (Apparently it was problematic when the game launched on the 360, and design/balances changes via patches have mostly fixed the problems people had)

I think people new to the series should just give it a shot, and try to develop their own opinions of the game. So don't listen to my, or any others' reviews, and just play it. You won't regret it :)

It runs worse on better hardware.
