Ho, ho, ho! It's about that time of year again :3

(okay maybe not for like another five months but we're doing another event thing anyway because things in this group have gotten a bit stale lately, also we believe in giving santa's evil twin from antarctica who gives evil gifts to the evil children of the southern hemisphere in july the recognition he deserves too)

This summer, Make a Steam Wish is yet again collaborating with NoSecretSanta, hosted courtesy of BorisTheWolfPL, to help put on a unique Secret Santa-style event. NoSecretSanta was originally created in 2021 as an alternative to the Secret Santa hosted by ScrapTF, and is now seeking to expand beyond its original context by sourcing fresh faces from this thread. Each participant who joins will be assigned a partner to give gifts to on July 31st, but unlike in other Secret Santa events, this relation is symmetrical; your gifter is also your giftee, and there are no secrets here besides the gifts.

Minecraft Server Technical Test

Hello everyone ^w^

After a few months of delays, the Make a Steam Wish Minecraft server will be online for a limited-time test of its hosting infrastructure until 2026-01-04 @ 9:00 PM EST. Please let me know if things work smoothly or not, and do try to break things the best you can. I've set the default gamemode to Creative for this session as well, and I'm excited to see what kinds of builds this community creates over the next week.

Version: Java Edition 1.21.10

To be added to the server whitelist, please comment underneath this post with your Minecraft: Java Edition username. (note that a valid copy of the game is required) No action is required if you've already registered for the server via the previous announcement post.

If you were wondering what happened to the Minecraft server I announced a month ago, I have delayed its launch until November due to personal health reasons and my busy study schedule, and hope to use the additional time until then to procure actual server hardware on which I can provide a better experience and possibly even host even more games for the group (an official Make a Steam Wish trade server in TF2, perhaps) if enough demand exists for it. I'm going to make a concerted effort to expand this group and bring more people onto the thread over the coming months, and hopefully the game servers serve as a space where new and established members of this community alike can connect.
