Tentative Dual-Boot Patch for SteamOS Installer
This uses an edited config file to let the user change settings in the partition editor before the installer partitions the drive.

Don't use this if you don't know what your doing.

Edit:
until i get a patched post_install.sh set up please do not attempt this

I'm not responsible if you screw up your computer.

You'll need to edit the post-install script too. But... I'd wager that wouldn't be something that you could fox for everyone. Better to just delete the portion that makes a backup of the system, and have users backup themselves.
Yeah I'll look into that...
Yeah. The one that runs after the Debian installer finishes is mostly to capture the install after it's fresh. It has references to the default positions for the files... but since it's to backup everything, it should be safe to delete it. Anyone that would be modifying that file in the first place knows what they're doing... hopefully.

I haven't checked the one you run in GNOME yet. I'll get back to you on it later.

I already had my home-made steambox with xbmc.

What I did to dual-boot:
- Add 1 HDD
- Unplug my current hdd
- Install steamos
- re-plug my xbmc hdd and update-grub.

Now I choose between steamos and xbmc-homemade-steamos at boot.

This lets you do it without unplugging or it lets you install on the same harddrive wheras yours requires unplugging and separate hard drives, however yours is probably safer at the moment.

did you post this on gethub?
Hello, do you have some news about your patch? Or simply multibooting?

Maybe would it work if you do like this : Install Debian (Wheezy), and then use the SteamOS repository?
You can try the patch it hasn't been thuroughly tested although i've been told it may cause issues with the backup scripts, which you could try disabling
This stuff has been handled for a while in my own replacement installer.
Good for you nobody cares.
