Just installed SteamOS again today but for some reason it can't find my Steam Controller. It should be plug & play, right?

(Made sure to remove an app, autoremove dependencies, and remove Jessie sources before attempting this update.)

Message notification for update appeared, but no luck after several reboots.

Went to desktop to 'apt-get update' steampowered repo manually.

After logging back to steam user, another reboot, nailing the hell out of the 'Check for SteamOS updates' button a few times and another reboot - SUCCESS!

However, even though system settings shows 2.95, I am still getting a 'Restart to Update SteamOS' notification.

Second 2.95 reboot; Third reboot - update notification still appears.

Clicked the 'Check for SteamOS updates' button again. Reboot. Appeared to work, but now it's back.

Update notification is looking like a permanent feature.

Will report back any change.

Check the github wiki for update troubleshooting.

there appears to be a bug in steamos, just introduced a few days ago, when using the steam controller by cable. if you use it wireless, with the dongle, there is no issue.

I tried it with both. Wireless doesn't do anything but wired will show 3 controllers connected but it still isn't responsive

Yeah there's definitely an issue with the Steam controller. My Xbox controller started working instantly

I've seen this behavior for a long time. Usually, you can temporarily fix it until the next update by going to the desktop and running 'sudo apt update' to fix any non-steam packages that have pending updates. I think the restart-to-update from the steam menu does nothing because the pending updates are from other non-steam related packages.

Thank you,

Am I the only one who can't buy games on SteamOS? Is it on purpose if my basket is always empty, no matter what game I try to add?

Ha, I've seen this. I thought is some temporary glitch with the store.

It depends of what you call "temporary"? A couple of months is still considered temporary? Lol!

I just bought a game on my steamos system and have done it several times before. It is probably something with your steam installation or account, you should open a support ticket
Or if you use the steam beta (not steamos beta which this thread is about :-) ) opt out and try again

Ah, is quite possible since most of the time I use beta :) Thanks.

Steam controller is working while plugged in now, just not while it's wireless. Maybe there's something wrong with my USB receiver?
