Steam Machine and ARK game problem. Help!!!
Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this. I'm really at a loss here and at my wits end. Hoping someone can help me out.

I have a Steam Machine running the latest builds and am trying to play ARK: Survival Evolved. The game initially booted up fine, but I (mistakenly) changed the Windowed setting to Fullscreen in the graphics options, and now the picture is way of center on my display, making the game unplayable.

I have tried multiple displays at various resolutions, restarting the machine, and uninstalling ARK itself multiple times. The game still loads up in "Fullscreen." I need to get that setting back to "Windowed", but I cannot navigate as it sits now.

Is there a file in Linux somewhere I can remove? I've looked, but can't even find the game files, even in the hidden ones. I just want to play this game. Thanks!

The devs are hilarious, that's for sure. Releasing a pretty much broken Linux game, while putting it under the category of "Optimized for Steam Machines."

Anyhow, I'm pretty sure there's a text file (.ini) that contains the game's settings that you can modify, but the problem is, I don't know where it's stored. See if there's something you can't modify in ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/ARK/Engine/Config/BaseEditorUserSettings.ini.
I got it worked out. Thanks so much for the responses!!
I had issues with it ater an update last night. Decided I might try that thing called sleep instead. Worked out well!

What did you do?

You could try to add in the launch options:
-windowed
Can I do this through Linux? I'm somewhat unfamiliar with using Linux, so I'm not quite sure how to go about this, if this can work.

Yes. Go to your game >> Manage game >> Set Launch options and write the argument:

-windowed

(I presume you're using Big Picture Mode) "
My big issue with ARK on the steam machine is it always takes two launches. I launch it once and choose a server (or standalone) and it goes through it's long loading routing, then crashes back to the steam client. load it again and it works. Takes forever, but once in it seems to run fine.
Which again emphasizes that ARK is *not* ready for Steam Machines. I'm tempted to post a complaint to the developers.
