PINNED: Madness vs Machines Feedback Thread
I haven't gotten to updating the patch notes since I've been busy with university and there were too many tiny things that were changed. I don't expect to write the full patch notes until the last truck delivery of contest submissions is patched in. - Hydrogen

It's really a nice addition to have, otherwise you'd have to keep tabs on 83 missions which is impossible. Even ctrl+f'ing the mission name in the tour page would take time and when you were done another guy could have taken the spot.

Nice, I just checked, some of my suggested stuff got in. Is there any changelogs done to the website/campaign? Thanks.
There is a link to changelogs on the Home page on potato.tf but it ends on Oct 2nd, back when it still was in beta. Idk if there is one for the live campaign, one of the staff members will have to answer that.
Mobile device wasn't something we had in mind for the website. Maybe try using a tablet (e.g. iPad or Galaxy Pad) and see if it works better? Either way I have some website projects lined up for Pelipoika so we have other fish that needs frying. - Hydrogen

Idk how many people use a smartphone to check the server page but I tend to do that quite often when I'm not on the computer and I want to check the servers situation (to see if I should boot up the computer to play some MM).

The way it is currently it takes way too much vertical space for a server so you'd have to scroll forever to get a nice overview of the servers, even though it is better than it used to before you changed it. Landscape mode was fine before but the portrait mode was messed up like I showed to Hydrogen before the revolution began he became busy with university.

It would be nice you could make vertical space a server takes smaller, if this becomes too hard to implement on portrait mode for phones then you can kinda have the full desktop version but zoomed in like CC's server page used to be, I could just double tap and slide to easily zoom out then. Unfortunately I didn't take any screenshots of the CC server page because 1) I was procrastinating taking it when it was up and 2) CC went down without a warning so my lazy ass couldn't wake up to take it before it went down.

I might put up screenshots (later) of how it looks on my phone if you guys need that, let me know by an edit or reply.

How important, really, is class diversity in medieval MvM when Demoknight is seemingly able to do everything that's absolutely necessary?

Another one.
As for the whole permission issue here's some of the replies I got from the group page, two of them are from AF mission makers:
[00:32] PenolAkushari:
imagine making mvm mission just so people won't be able to use it

[00:33] Hydrogen:
that last sentence is wrong
you are allowed to host without permission

[00:33] theAgamer11:
i don't think anyone would complain if you were just hosting it for your friends, but if you start running servers for 10+ people and especially if you ever make money off them, i can see people having issues

[00:33] Hydrogen:
if you can't host without permission then steam workshop would have been sued by every citizen of every government
you can even make money off of them
that's not wrong either, because you're providing a service (servers)
you can't edit or decompile/recompile maps and publish them however, even if you give credit
or missions*
At its height AF (which refers to Memes vs Machines to avoid confusion with Madness vs Machines if we used MM) had 67 servers up that were all full. Right now there's 30 servers and right now there's about a dozen servers sitting completely empty right now, and this is on the weekend when the traffic is usually higher. I wouldn't say the servers are all full.

I know 2 weeks is quite short compared to TT and CC but you have to remember this is planned to be an annual thing so there might be another AF next year, or the year after that etc (I don't know if the same missions will return for future AF events). You also have to keep in mind AF was released when CC was running, we haven't had a campaign (AF) run while another one was taking a break (AF). TT ran for so long because people still played it and there was no other campaign going on until CC launched, at which point TT ended. CC will end when MM launches so it will go the same way too. AF will return in the future.

You also have to take in mind CC is much bigger and there are still people who aren't done with it (you have to put in a lot more hours to get the gold medal compared to spending ~2 hours to get the potato medal for AF). You also have to consider in that when CC first launched it wasn't anywhere near as it was today, it had way fewer contracts and missions in it, the additional content came after it's launch during the fall, I know a lot more missions were added post launch then there were at launch.

People also complained after the first AF extension they wanted CC back since they were done with AF (and probably still had things to do in CC). MM launches in about 6 weeks so you have to keep in mind there's not much time left for CC for people who want to complete it. I think with the current state of AF it's better to end it so people can finish up CC before MM launches. If the servers were still full it might've been an idea to extend it for another week but as you can see in the stat page it suffered a big drop in players after the first week.

Btw if medals are not important you can download the Memes vs Machines asset pack[drive.google.com] and run it on your own server to play with friends. I've read of there being servers hosting TT after it ended so there's a chance someone might host AF after it ends, but it's only something I've read so I can't say for 100%. 2 of the missions do require plugins though and they are Extended Deadline (Sequoia) and Bison Barrage (Waterfront) so you're gonna need the plugins for that, the Bison Barrage plugin is with the mission file in the creators (theAgamer11) profile page but here's the direct link just in case https://www.dropbox.com/s/ydyx970jtjky7e3/mvm_waterfront_rc3_bison_barrage.zip?dl=0
Extended Deadline only needs the plugin to pre-cache the tree model, you're gonna have to ask any admin on this group for that (or for both the missions).

I just had a linux guy (E-37) confirm it works on linux fine
also you're not clicking on the connect button for the 6/6 servers right?

[21:56]
Hydrogen:
workaround

[21:56]
Hydrogen:
right click on the connect button
hit copy url
then in tf2 type in
"connect"
then a space
then paste the url
delete the steam://connect/ part
hit enter
so it should display something like "connect 96.227.109.117:27115"
oh yeah
check that your web browser is allowing steam:// commands to execute
if it's blocking that then it won't work
Wow! It worked! Thank you so much! I don't know how I can thank you!
Don't thank me thank Hydrogen, he came up with this stuff, I just copied and pasted it here that's all.

Hey whenever I try to connect to a server through a website it just goes to the Steam Store. When i try to directly find a server through community servers, they say they need a password that I do not have. I really want to play this gamemode but I can't Please help!
Are you sure you're connecting through this page? https://potato.tf/servers
If you are then idk what's causing that, it should really not go to the Steam Store. Right now there's only 1 server that is password protected so the others shouldn't require a password from you. Keep in mind a lot of people want to join the servers so they fill up as soon as a slot is ready. Your best bet to join is to auto-join on several servers and close the others ones down once you join one of the servers (so it doesn't disconnect you out of your game to join another server).
