L4D2 and NS2 Dedicated Servers are live

L4D2
Bad news first...
The L4D2 server doesn't "just work" like I would like to, but it does work. Here are the instructions for you to get connected to it:

1. Choose a game mode you would like to play. (For this case we'll say versus.)
2. Click on the versus icon.
3. Select the Play With Friends option.
4. On the next window, click Create Versus Lobby.
5. In the next screen, select a campaign you want. IMPORTANT: For Server Type select Best Available Dedicated (NOT: Steam Group Server)
6. Click Create Lobby.
7. The lobby will be created.
8. Once in the lobby, you will need to enter
mm_dedicated_force_servers 71.239.153.190:27017
in the cosole ("~" by default to bring up the console).
9. Start the game, and with some luck it will connect you to my server.

What that command in step 7 does is force the lobby to search for a dedicated server only at the IP address specified. Also, my external IP will change over time, so I will try to keep this updated. I tried using a domain name, and big surprise... it didn't work (my domain name works, but the command used will not work with domain names, only IP address).

The server is vanilla at this point. It works (for the moment) and I don't feel like breaking it by installing mods.

NS2
NS2 works freaking great. Server shows up in the master list, you pick it, put in the password, and you're connected... why the hell L4D2 can't be that simple, I have no idea.

well, that should do it for now. happy gaming!

TF2 MVM

Just so you know...

As many of you know, Team Fortress 2 has been updated with a Mann Versus Machine cooperative game mode, where up to 6 people work together to eliminate waves of robots.

Well it turned out to be much more difficult than one would imagine. With only 2 people, getting past the first wave will take several attempts even with skilled players.

So I'd like to get at least 3 people online at the same time to play this, preferrably the full 6. If there are several people online at the same time, I will try to organize a game. Just an FYI, that is all.

L4D2

We should schedule a day, or night, to play L4D2 as a big group. If we get everyone to play at the same time, we can make our own private game. We should converse on this matter on Friday during the workday.

Invite

Invite anyone that hasn't already joined. This group can be for past or present employees. I'm also making all the current employees officers, so they can invite people that I didn't include.
