Instructions for solving common Anticheat problems

This is also a place to ask for help with technical issues with the Anticheat

The server kicks you during the game and says you need Anticheat to play

1. Make sure Anticheat is running and not showing any errors
   
2. Ensure that you start the game by pressing the button in Anticheat, rather than launching it the usual way
   
3. If you have a non-default antivirus software, ensure that Anticheat is whitelisted
   
4. Restart Anticheat
   
5. After connecting to the server, type !anticheat in chat and check if it indicates that you have Anticheat running
   
6. If none of the above steps help, try reinstalling the anticheat using the automatic installer; and don't change default checkboxes during npcap installation
   
7. If none of the above steps help, try running Anticheat with Administrator privileges

The Anticheat closes by itself

• If you have a non-default antivirus software, ensure that Anticheat is whitelisted
  
• Try reinstalling the anticheat using the automatic installer; and don't change default checkboxes during npcap installation

The game shows you a warning about -insecure parameter

• This warning indicates that VAC is disabled. This is not an error, this is how it's supposed to work when you are playing with the Anticheat. Simply ignore this warning

The Anticheat says "L4D2 has been started, but not through the anticheat. The aniticheat will not work.", but you did start the game by clicking the button in the Anticheat

• Try running Anticheat with Administrator privileges

I been having a problem of the Anticheat when i updated to the new version, then when I tried "Connect" or "Start up" (to play with insecured) but didnt work and got stuck with errors like
Failed to execute command. Try to restart Steam, or reboot computer
or
Failed to start Left 4 Dead 2. Try to restart Steam, or reboot computer

Do you know how to start programs with launch parameters?

Yes, I did it and work
but strangly previous versions didnt asked for parameters launch

You misunderstood me, and I'm not sure what you did, but the anticheat doesn't require any launch parameters to work, neither for l4d2, nor for the anticheat itself.

You misunderstood me, and I'm not sure what you did, but the anticheat doesn't require any launch parameters to work, neither for l4d2, nor for the anticheat itself.
Good to know that it's fixed.

I didnt put any parameters, just did the stuff of exception of the program from the avast (antivirus), execute and done, but this time it was giving me error like if i didnt had steam installed properly or even if i had something suspicious
Just right now putted into "execute as administrator" and worked
It seems it could be a failing bcs previous versions (which I know from ver 34 before 38), didnt had this issue until right now and got banned for this issue.

I've whitelisted the anti cheat on Windows defender and followed all steps. However I get the error when I launch the game via Anti Cheat this message:
"L4D2 has been started, but not through the anticheat. The aniticheat will not work."

Upon entering the game I am met with the parameters saying VAC is disabled which is as intended however the anti cheat is not properly running when I enter center games.

Yes it seems to have worked. No longer receive the error message thanks.

@The Law , the anticheat doesn't close itself and doesn't delete itself from your computer. It's the antivirus issue. You probably didn't properly whitelist the app. Please double-check that the anticheat you are runnins is exactly at the same location where you have it whitelisted

Files are located somewhere right? The location of the .exe file of the anticheat

Since I started using the anticheat my pc freezes when I use steam overlay, even when im not playing l4dcenter servers the issue still persists. The issue is only with l4d2, other games are completely fine when I use steam overlay. Never had a problem like this before I started using the anticheat. A couple of people have told me they experienced the same thing.

Are you saying you are having the issue while the anticheat is turned off, and you are playing on a non-l4d2center server?
