"Stream launch failed - authentication problem"
Hi folks,

I just got invited to the in-home streaming beta, and I'm thrilled since I've got a pretty powerful desktop running Steam, but I'd love the opportunity to play those desktop games on my laptop and still get as beautiful (and quiet!) an experience. Even better, this will finally give me a chance to play PC games on my MacBook.

I connected my two streaming computers in Preferences right away and they see each other just fine. But! When I click "Stream" to play a PC game on my MacBook, all I get is a popup message saying "Stream launch failed -- authentication problem." Is this the right place to report this issue? Are there any additional logs I can send to Valve?

Thanks! I can't wait to get this working!

Also having this issue:

I'm on a SteamOS machine and windows desktop
Both machines are opted into the beta
Both machines can see each other in the "In-home streaming"
Both can even "connect" (selecting the desktop from within steamos causes both to receive "disconnected"/"reconnected" messages

Still getting the authentication problem message.

Hey guys
I have the same problem that keeps on coming up.
When I try to stream Lego Marvel Superheros from my desktop to my laptop, it says "Stream Launch Failed -- Authentication Problem".
I'm in South Africa, so my Steam client on both machines are offline, mostly, because internet here costs a bomb.
My PC Specs : Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93 GHz Overclocked to 3.03 Ghz
MSI nVidia GTX 560 1 GB VRAM
4GB RAM
Windows 7 SP1 x64

My Laptop Specs : Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 2.00 GHz
nVidia Quadro NVS 135M 128MB VRAM (256MB with TurboCache)
3 GB RAM
Windows XP SP3 x86

I connected the two with a single LAN cable (P2P LAN)
Both are authorized machines on Steam and updated to the latest Beta Client.
Can someone help?

You will need to update the latest drivers. Here is what I did:

Open Steam,

Initiate the stream from the non-host computer. So from the computer I wanted to play on, I selected stream. Then, go back to the main/host computer and there will be a dialogue box prompting you to install additional drivers or updates. Select yes and follow the prompt to install the content. I had to do this 2 times or more until all the drivers and updates were installed.

Hope this helps!
