Game night resurrection!

Hey there fellow co-gamer boys and girls! Been a while now hasn't it?

We're planning to have a big old game night this Saturday on the 14th of December! As it's been a while since everyone got together around an announcement, we're starting things off with something old but also somewhat new!

SCP: Secret Laboratory just dropped a new update which makes the timing just right. As per usual, you either get to role-play your heart out, get lost in the mayhem or spend the entire session playing "Linus' Tech Tip" audio clips over the intercom. Isn't technology beautiful? Either way, D-Boys/Gals for life.

This should be the main course for the night but we might also put some scribbl.io on the platter for afterwards. Games like Golf With Friends and others are also not to be counted out! I also heard some whispers about a game night after dark, but I still have to consult Hivecom HR on that. On that note I've just been informed there is no Hivecom HR department and as such, all goes.

So, when is this happening?

All of hivecom is welcome, even if you've never played this spooky game before. We have some new plugins that should make the gameplay even more fun!

June Kickoff Game Night!

Greetings boys and girls! It's time for another game night! Additionally it was Kilmanio's birthday last week so we want to celebrate it with a few rounds of our favorite games. He's also picked out a few free to play titles for everyone to quickly download in case we get bored of our usual SCP: Secret Laboratory starter.

As previously mentioned we want to do these more regularly again, but still haven't figured out what a calendar is or how to plan in advance. You know what that means don't you? That's right! We're doing this tonight!

Starting time is the 2nd of June 2018 at 9pm CET[www.timeanddate.com]

It's short notice but not as short as last time! We will be on the Hivecom Teamspeak server as per usual so be there or be circle.

Hey dudes, we know that this is kinda late, but someone forgot to actually announce this here. Never the less want to write an announcement here!

Tonight we will celebrate Chantaro's 21st birthday with some SCP: Secret Laboratory. The server will be hosted by kilmanio, whose IP we have already leaked once before! For those who did not gobble up this leak, here it is again 62.194.68.117!

We are starting at 8pm CEST[www.timeanddate.com] as per usual. Like the last time we will be in the game's channel on the Hivecom Teamspeak server. See you there!

SCP: Secret Laboratory Game Night 2.0!

Hey there! Man it's been a long time since we had a game night! Quite frankly want to get back into having these more regularly. This one is going to be on extremely short notice but I hope that nevertheless a lot of folks will show up!

The primary game is going to be SCP: Secret Laboratory on a server hosted by the one and only Kilmanio himself! The IP of the server will be 62.194.68.117.

We are going to start tonight on the 9th of March 2018 at 8pm CET[www.timeanddate.com].

If you want to join we will be waiting in the game's channel on the Hivecom Teamspeak server. A lot of people should already be in the channel by that time so it is probably hard to miss!

Not sure how the game is played? Don't worry. We'll give you a brief introduction before things get going!

April Game Night! It's that time again!

Been a while since we last had a game night. We've had one in planning for about a month now but getting the date just right so most folks can join in is not that easy after all! As such, the new game night will be on the 22nd of April 2017 at 7pm CET[www.timeanddate.com].

If you want to talk and join in we will all be in a channel on the Hivecom Teamspeak server.

As for which games are planned: We haven't quite decided that yet and will probably figure that out as we go. Also depends on the player count after all.

However, here are some of the game you should probably have downloaded beforehand.

January Game Night! Let's do this!

First off, happy new year to everyone! Hope you had a good start so far into 2017! It's been a while since we last had a game night and what better occasion than to have one on Jokler's birthday! We will be hosting a game night on the 13th of January 2017 at 7pm CET[www.timeanddate.com].

Hivecom Discord server set up!

Hey there, Cat here! I'm glad to announce that we have an official Discord server setup at this point. The structure of it is almost identical as the Teamspeak server but obviously with the perks and downsides that Discord brings alongside itself. We have set up voice as well as text channels and have created permissions with roles similar to those on the Teamspeak server so if you want to make the switch you are free to do so. Just make sure to talk to one of our moderators, approved users or admins! The Teamspeak server will still remain. It's kind of the core around which this community is built and we want to give people options. I've written quite a bit more information on the matter below but I will keep this short for now and just give you the connection link! I'll see you on Hivecom!

Now for some backstory and why we actually have a Discord server now. This might have caused some confusion at first but I think it's for the better in a way. Let me explain.

As some of you might know me and those running Hivecom have been keeping quite some distance from Discord for a good amount of time now. The reasoning is rather simple: when I want to run a community and be in charge of people, I want to be able to do that from the ground up. One of the reasons I have stayed away from Discord is that I am not running it on my own. I have no control over what is setup where and how. At the same time I felt it would divide the people already present in the community by being in two places at the same time or just moving away from the Teamspeak server which our entire group was built around back then. This is not the case though.

I've heard quite a deal about Discord, not only where it fails but also where it succeeds. I am personally not fond of the attitude behind Discord with that being dragging other quite fine and established communication services through the dirt at times and state that they will revolutionize gaming and community interaction and communication. Will they be able to succeed? Probably not. Having been on the internet since I was young I can easily say that a community is not based around a single line of communication. This is a beautiful concept in a way but the chances of it really hitting the spot and being the only place of interaction is almost impossible. Chances are that if you are in Hivecom you are also in at least one other community or group of people. These have their own personal tastes and interests. An ideal community is not run by one person but a large set of people. Hence the name Hivecom. Used to be called Hivemind because the idea of a collective that had one goal was quite something we wanted to consider for our community. We in one way would like to push forward but we also want to cater to those that do not personally like the communication setups that already exist.

Discord is an amazing application in a way. For newcomers to online interaction it is a must have at this point. One click and you are in. Text and voice chat plus all your little extras. Put the design on top of that and you are good to go. This is where Discord really stands out and makes its stand. However, the moment someone with at least a little online experience comes along the red flag immediately comes up. I personally use IRC, Teamspeak, Skype, Slack, Steam and so many other applications to talk to everyone. Sure, it's nice having people in one place but there's always going to be someone that dislikes one thing or another. Some people love our Teamspeak server because it is simple and provides everything they need. Others have switched to Discord because they find the design and interface better. It's all personal taste. We would like to accommodate that taste and do not wish to alienate folks. Discord takes the lead when it comes to simple connections and being more accessible. I approve of the fact that it is easy to acquire and accessible without tons of setup. Sure, Teamspeak is almost the same but being able to run Discord in your browser is a big plus for many. You don't want to be in a hassle while trying communication setups and I understand that. That's why we have a server now.

As stated, the setup is almost identical to the Teamspeak server. On the Teamspeak server we have groups for the status of members. We have the same on Discord but one thing there that we do not have on Teamspeak are the role restricted voice and text channels. These really make a difference in the channel structure. It's less crowded there although I must say compared to other Teamspeak servers ours is rather clean. Either way, it's a choice you have to make but we still want to have you on board. We're a group after all. Not a single person.

I hope this somewhat all makes sense. It's late so I wrote this up rather quickly. Can't wait to see where we will be next. I'll see you on Hivecom!

PS: I'm making some changes to the website rather soon including a full fledged user system that incorporates both the Teamspeak server as well as the Discord server. So many fancy new features that should make your lives a little easier. I'll give you more information as it comes!

Game night fun night

As some of you might know our lord and savior Kagedreng had his birthday this Thursday. Since no sacrifices were made in his name we must atone for our sins by doing a magical game night of doom to please our benevolant God. Laughs shall had and RDMs shall be banned during a few rounds of Trouble in Terrorist Town. We hope to have our mistakes then forgiven by pleasing our master and letting him win at least once during Deathrun (no promises though). Guess Who and Prop Hunt will be the testing grounds for who can embody the dumbest existential form and still win at life. Hide and Seek shall be our final judgement with our king of cakes deciding who is to join his ranks and serve him in the long run.

So with all that out of the way. When, where and how?

When: Saturday, 23 of January starting around 8pm CET.
Where: Connect to gaming.hivecom.net in Garry's Mod.
How: Touch your left nostril or earlobe. Trust me it works.

Be there or be a pleb. You don't want to be a pleb. Just ask Yuki.. she knows.

If you see a fishstick: slap him/her with a trout. Not too hard and not to soft though! Don't have a trout? Get salmon instead but first get a permit from the salmon master. If you don't you will be punished with having to sit through one of Kagedrengs many songs of love and McFlurrys™
