Wish it had a proper diplomacy system for single player.

Sheesh! It's going to be out in November? 2017 is going to be a busy year.

Fascinating.

I'll second that. There's a lot I like about the series, but it feels a little too much like a pure wargame for me.

I hope they will decrease the amount of micro and improve the UI.

I'm in... I would like a graphical improvement. As far as I am concerned this is a "ain't broke, don't fix it" situation. D4 is one of the best games on PC and they should think really hard before fucking it up.

I like the improved graphics and RT combat, but there doesn't seem to be anything new that makes me really want to grab this right away, at least not for $35 or $40, which im sure will be the price tag. I'd still like to get a few more hundred hours in Dom 4 before I move on to 5. By that time I'm sure i'd appreciate new races, spells, items, abilities, etc, and I'm sure there would of been a sale by then.

Exactly my thoughts!

It is, but it doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Certain games I feel are better with little or no diplomacy, like Warlock for example. While it did have a basic diplomacy, the fun lied in using spells and all the different unit types.

It would be a little weird if this game had diplomacy if you ask me. The object is for your "Pretender God" to be the one true god and to spread dominion over all. Making peace or trades with other gods just seems pointless and kinda dumb. The game is designed for combat; They made so many spells, races, units, abilites, and in-depth combat mechanics to let it go unused. Diplomacy just defeats the purpose of the whole game. Would be odd if you could talk your way into winning a game.

With diplomacy I tend to side w/ the no diplomacy is best. These are literally religious wars with a demonstrable god-ling to follow, winner takes all.

But in practice diplomacy only matters in AI games. This could help but I think getting it to work well is hard (as we have seen in so many other games) and it adds just a bit of variation to the game.

In multi-player games people always horsetrade for territory, magic items, resources, etc and that largely happens outside of the game. This is actually the hardest part of the game. If you have ever played the old Diplomacy board game then you have a good idea of what this is like just add more complexity. No game system can encompass the nuance and complexity that happens here so if you really love diplomacy play multiplayer games.
