Closing Bets and DDOS Attacks
This was posted by admin @GeneticksPT
"Our Rules were set long before this match (for good or for worst).
We will not support ddos attacks or other hack-parts. So if there will be any of technical issues match we will closed without winner."

What you guys don't realize is that your system can still be abused. The DDOSer could very well have bet tons of rares on the losing team using multiple steam accounts. When their team is losing and their rares are at risk, they simply DDOS one of the teams to cause problems and they get their rares back. By closing all bets that have technical issues, the system is easily abused.

I suggest that whichever team was winning before the technical issues (such as in EG vs aL and now possibly KP vs Empire) is appointed the "win" just for the sake of the bet. That way it is at least still fair to the betters as the DDOSers can possibly benefit either way, closing bet or by defwin.

Of course in the case of walkovers (true definition of defwin) then closing bets is perfectly fine and acceptable.

You need to start making better rules.

What would happen in a BO5 Final like the one coming in 3 days of dreamhack?

Lets say Alliance vs Dignitas is 2-2 and all of the sudden at the 5th match which is at 40th minute and Alliance have advantage 2-3 of Dignitas player disconnect and loose internet?

The admins will give the win to Alliance since they have the advantage to game 5 and grand them winners.

What will dota2lounge do? Will close bets because of disconect at the last match?

If a game was started and played it shouldnt be counted as def wins/loose.

Kaipi now plays 5vs4 or they could Forfeit.Whaever happens should be counted towards dota2lounge.

Thanks for your input.
You made a valid point which we will take in consideration.
please do listen to this - it is an incredibly sensible idea and should be made clear at the start of bets. If ddosing doesnt stop for this, then perhaps remove it - but the amazing popularity of D2L seems to have come with an unwanted side-effect... if it is any consolation I am sure people will continue to generate revenue for the site as a mark of respect for the sacrifice it will make for the betterment of Dota2 as a whole.

Thank you greatly to Geneticks for reading this.

Where can I find this list of rules that you speak of?

So what is the decision on Kaipi vs Empire, this is getting ridiculous. First AL vs EG and now this.
mqz 15 Apr, 2013 @ 3:26am
I just want to add that by 100% closing the bets, the DDOSers have a GUARANTEED method of getting their rares back on bets that have gone bad for them. Essentially, this means that they can have a 100% win rate on bets and all-in on every single bet for massive profit.

Btw you should be able to keep the bets open for days.

If there are postpones its unfair to close and give back items if a match is already played and team has a winning advantage.

If the DDOS attacks are indeed made with a purpose of getting Bet advantages, then it's more likely to be cause of Money bets then item bets.

But all this aside, i don't understand how PRO teams and players don't get protected to avoid this situations which are easy for them to avoid since they have the resources for it.

G-GOD, yesterday we explained our decision.
So stop twitching the topic towards old and closed subject.

So are you closing this game? If Empire manage to come back because it's now 4v5, will those betters lose their items because of DDOS? Will the decision be the same the other way around? I just see a lot of flexibility in how the rules have been interpreted as of late.
mqz 15 Apr, 2013 @ 3:39am
Indeed the DDOS attacks may be more related to real money bets but D2L users are still affected. In this game, KP is STOMPING Empire despite playing 4v5. Even if they end up losing this game to Empire somehow, it is only fair to still award those who bet on KP.

Game still going... watch stream maybe?
Ayrleand 15 Apr, 2013 @ 3:42am
I am watching the stream, specifically an entire player and his hero being missing because of a faulty reload, despite the fact that the admins stated they wouldn't accept a faulty load. Like it or not, the game is changed because of DDOS, and your specific phrasing used is:
"Our Rules were set long before this match (for good or for worst).
We will not support ddos attacks or other hack-parts. So if there will be any of technical issues match we will closed without winner."
There are technical issues that change the game, it should be closed in fairness. You will note I have not bet on either team so don't try to accuse me of trying to save my hats.
Fleme 15 Apr, 2013 @ 3:45am
Am I reading this right in that all bets placed on KP vs Empire are nullified as a result of the presumed DDoS?
mqz 15 Apr, 2013 @ 3:49am
Actually the rules state that bets are closed in case of defwins. KP has won 4v5
