Is the term "indie" still a relevant term?
This is regarding my rant/discussion about the Game Informer article, The Mutating Meaning of "Indie." Do you think that indie is still indie, or is it really just a term to describe a genre or ambiance that can be assumed at will by major companies and small teams alike?

It means no more really than 'rock music' or 'punk music' since apparently Avril Lavine and Chad Krueger are 'rock and punk stars.' I think the meaning obviously had more distinction 15 years ago when most people still did not have internet, and the only way to share your independent game, music, movie was to either host an event or go through a company/publisher/network. The internet made revenue for independent projects far more obtainable. So in that regard, you could say that the internet allowed for 'totally independent' work to be shared via Youtube and so on. The term 'indie' for me defines that I work completely independently of any external direction (rules) and without any funding from a traditional publisher. Many works/artists now seem to be trying to cash-in on the term indie. I guess it all depends on who's calling it 'indie' that makes it accurate/genuine or not. I prefer to say that I'm Lone Wolfin' it. Inspired 100% by Lone Wolf Don. : )
