Help us translate Steam
To help prevent further loss of items, you should only conduct trades where there has been a prior agreement with the other party within a neutral venue that conducts reputation tracking, like Barter.vg, SteamTrades, /r/SteamGameSwap, or /r/IndieGameSwap.
I really hope it's investigated, Steam wont do anything but at the least his barter.vg is hopefully banned
It's good that you made screenshots. I would also suggest you to make full uncropped screenshots in the future ( while hiding any sensitive information you may have, including any game keys and even gift links, as in your case, so please do it now ).
Also it would be great if the first (preferably ) screenshot includes the profile of the accused person ( even if you don't have them as friends, but your chat with them is still open ) - meaning it shows their profile link after you click their name in chat etc. as an additional proof.
I learned to make screenshots of everything possible, even if it doesn't seem as necessary at the time.
If you can provide/find any other evidence from other people or sites and provide them here I think it will be much more possible for Barter admins to help you and ban the person if they are really guilty.
Also make sure you have an actual accepted offer on Barter ( whether you accepted someone's offer or someone accepted yours ) and then proceed with trading them. You can also set your Barter offer preference to be added, after offer has been accepted by you.
I've updated the links
Without meaning to slate barter.vg, it's not the easiest site to browse and understand at first glance, I'll be looking more into it
12 days ago I have already blocked him anyway because of his offer[barter.vg] (and his current statistics). I guess nobody don't do much wrong with it.
There will be a reason why he no longer has an account on steamtrades. That now after 3 hours "a friend" can deliver the reason for it, is not only late, but gives likewise a reason for certain doubts.
As an extremely naive artist, one should no longer be on the move with such information or speculations.
It was great that you told us about the scam, really! But nothing more is needed. It's already difficult to decide between head shaking and pity.
Who is so capable in his evidence delivery, something like this should not actually happen to yourself. Obviously you knew what really mattered for a trade.
That's why I decided for head shaking. ;)
I'm over it to be honest, the games weren't worth much and Portal 2 will *hopefully* be on sale in two weeks during the summer sale!
I doubt anything will happen to him so no point dwelling on it
Just this part[i.imgur.com] of the conversation should have made you think.
Where is the provided function to delete your SteamTrades Account yourself? (!)
Why do I feel so kidded right now[i.imgur.com]?
Once more ...
I understand your frustration. Barter indeed looks difficult to use at first sight, even though you don't really need to use or know all of its features, in order to do a basic trade.
But in short ( if haven't figured it out already ) Barter has filters, that depending on how you set your preferences from under your Barter profile (whether you want wishlist games only, or only games with cards etc ) it will match you with other people based on your and their preferences. So it will be easier to send offers, rather than going around and searching from post to post.
In any ways, you can always ask here and people will be happy to explain any Barter feature you are confused with.
As for what happened - I am sure you learned your lesson to try and make a better judgement. Shit happens. Can't turn back time - some people find it hard to trust others and some are more easily deceived.
Hopefully the person gets banned, rather than deceiving another Barter user.
That was added in course of the GDPR compliance a year ago, linked on the privacy policy page.
Found it[www.steamtrades.com] ... thank you for the hint and the answer to my question. :)

Nevertheless:
It still doesn't change the doubts that arise. Anyone who has something to hide should give cause for caution.
