Monthly Theme Suggestions
If you have any Theme suggestions, feel free to post them here. Please also indicate whether you're just suggesting something or if you'd also like to organize the month (make the main/announcement post, answer questions about the theme, count who played how many qualifying games etc.)

Basically you'll run a random number generator with the max cap set to the never played(+unfinished) total amount, and whatever game the number lands on you'll have to play it.

I like this idea!

No idea whether this will work. But since November is the month of Black Friday aka the national impulse buying day, next month's theme could be about picking any game you bought impulsively but had never touched for whatever reason.

I like that impulse buy idea. I've got a few that I should get around to playing... some day.

General themes:

IDEKIHI (I Didn’t Even Know I Had It): for games that you don’t recognise or remember getting when you see them in your library
Leaving the Comfort Zone: giving a try to genres you don’t usually play
Popularity Contest: games that everyone is talking about but you haven’t played yet

More narrowed down themes:

I’m Sorry, What?: games whose names include non-English words or characters
Robot Revolution: AI or robot-themed games

For January something like games of the yesteryear(s) could work - the game-darlings of past bundles that seem to be completely disappeared recently from discussions. The early HB monthlies featured Titan Souls, Dropsy, The Wasteland 2, Legend of Grimrock 1-2 and the list could go on. idea would be to pick some bundles that started well in the past, but were considered really good - so BS/Fanatical's Killer bundles, HB monthlies, Indie bundles and Staff picks. Many good games from those bundles got forgotten if not rebundled, and if rebundled - everyone has them, so they are considered low value and low interest. A little revival of them could be an interesting take, having good games and pretty wide selection.

Thank you, I'll definitely use some of those in the future!

I second this suggestion.

I have several games in my library that I've been too chicken to play because "they're not my type of games and I will suck at them".
Hopefully a theme like this would finally get me to tackle at least one of these games.

Other suggestion:
Languishing in the Backlog

Inspired by Adam's suggestion, but instead of focusing on old bundle gems that were forgotten, here we would play some of our oldest unplayed purchases, games we bought years and years ago, and then just kind of forgot about.

Seconding Fnord's suggestion. So i might finally get around to play stuff i bought ages ago.

Just had a stupid idea for March's theme: playing games featuring war, or soldiers in general because, you know.. they march :steamfacepalm:
"Spring Cleaning" - oldest unplayed games in the library, like suggested above, and/or games around cleaning (e.g. Viscera Cleanup Detail, Serial Cleaner, Spaceport Janitor)

Is there a way to sort unplayed games by date?

Since February is a mysteriously short month, it could have a theme of short games. I'm not sure what the threshold should be though. Maybe anything under 1 hour according to HowLongToBeat as a basic guideline?

No, but you can view a list of licenses activated on your account, and it will be in order of activation, so you can just skim through it until you find a game you've not played.

I really like all of Yeliena's suggestions - positive that I can easily find something to fill each of the categories listed in their post. :cozyspaceengineersc:
