LAN Party on New Years Day

Help us kick of 2019 properly! Join us on January 1, starting at 2PM. Some food will be provided but feel free to bring something to share. Bringing drinks is highly recommended. We do have a few loaner computers but please bring a gaming PC if you have one. Space is going to be limited, so let us know ASAP if you plan to attend.

LAN Party tonight - wrap up the KF2 Monster Ball event

To all of the Beacon's Squares,

Tonight is the final night of Killing Floor 2's Monster Ball 2018 event. During this final weekend, you can earn double XP and enjoy increased item drop rates! Games start tonight at 8PM Eastern (hopefully you have already set your clock back).

Internet speeds are testing at 114Mbps down, 11.5Mbps up. The mini fridge has space ready, so remember to bring your drinks. Plenty of candy is here, as well as some other snack foods, but feel free to bring anything you like for yourself or to share.

Although this is being planned as a small get together, everyone is invited. We hope to see you here!

Internet connection speed increase

Hello to all of the Beacon's Squares,

The internet service at The Beacon has been upgraded. The downstream speed has increased by 85% and the upstream has doubled. This should help LAN parties stay lag-free, and will reduce the amount of time we spend waiting to play while games download.

As always, we're looking forward to our next event. We are most likely going to target late summer, just prior to universities resuming classes. Please let us know if you have any particular schedule constraints that would help us choose one day over another.

Keep your drinks cool

The Beacon is pleased to announce the addition of a mini-fridge! Feel free to bring your favorite beverages or other items that require cooling. Fridge and freezer space is limited, so please be respectful of others by not loading up more than you need for a short period of time.

Also, in case anyone is wondering, we are maintaining a strict no-alcohol policy at The Beacon.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone again soon! The next event is likely to be summer 2018, but we are not sure if it will be early, mid, or late summer. If you have a preference, please let us know in the discussion area.

Fall 2017 LAN Party

Hello all,

We are looking forward to another LAN party on Saturday, October 7th, starting at 1PM and ending the morning of Sunday, October 8th at 1AM. Some of you were invited directly via facebook based on who has been active with the group recently and due to our limited space. If you were not invited via facebook, it doesn't mean we don't want you! Please let us know if you are interested in attending. We believe that we still have a few seats available.

Congratulations to LyteRae for making player of the week! LyteRae has just unlocked the "Death to the Mad Scientist" achievement on Killing Floor, by winning a match on Suicidal difficulty.

LAN Party week of December 29, 2013

We're working on planning out a LAN party this week. Our candidates days are the 30th, 31st, 1st, and 4th. Please let us know what days would work for you. We may do more than one day, and our alternate day might be a Resident Evil movie marathon. As for the LAN party games, the only one suggested to us so far has been Killing Floor. If you like Killing Floor, and still need to score any of the achievements that are only available during this time of the year (especially the one that gives you the Z.E.D. gun!), please try to join us. If you aren't able to attend in person, keep in touch with us, as we can probably make a locally-hosted KF game available online. So please let us know your thoughts on all of this, especially:
1.) What days would work for you from the above candidates
2.) Whether you'd be able to attend in person or via the internet
3.) What games you want to play, or if you'd rather attend the RE marathon
4.) What snacks and drinks you want to have available and/or can bring

YARP is weekly again

We've been off and on for a while now, but YARP is now slated to happen every week until the new baby arrives. The regular schedule is to start Friday @ 6:30, but we'll continue to have the event details listed each week in case anything shifts.

Don't forget: we'd like to hear from you on a time for another Beacon gathering outside of YARP. This would be a straight-up LAN party, with PCs and/or XBoxs. Please post in the discussion about the next meeting.
