CS:GO Terminology II

I decided to update a short list of terminology I found a bit ago. Haven't seen one of these in a while, hopefully it will help some of the newer players, and maybe brighten some eyes a bit! ◕‿◕

didn't think this shit would get so popular, check out my next post when you're done (:

IF YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC TERM YOU DON'T KNOW, DO CTRL+F TO SEARCH FOR IT HERE.

Extra: HERE (edited thanks to /u/bradsmr/) IS A album of de_dust2, de_inferno, de_nuke and de_train callout spots. For the most part it is correct.

to save - To keep your items (armor, guns, grenades) in order to not have to spend money the next round.

eco/eco round - 'saving' in which you buy pistols, grenades, or nothing at all in an attempt to save money for future rounds.

anti-eco - knowing enemy team is going eco, sometimes even buying weapons specialized for making money (smgs, shotguns).

lit/tagged - damaged. "He's lit for 72," means he is down 72 health.

ace - To kill all the enemies on the other team by yourself.

GH - Good Half

NS - Nice Shot

NT - Nice Try

wall banging - shooting a player through a surface that allows bullets to penetrate. This could also include "wall-banging" a grenade, ect.

nade stacking - when players throw a sequence of grenades in a particular direction.

stacking - when more players than usual defend or rush a particular bomb site.

to boost - jumping on a teammates back to get to places where couldn't on your own.

Baiting - Allowing a team mate to push in to an area whilst you hide in order to find out the enemy's holding spots. (/u/Northhh)

caller = the guy who calls the strats.

cyka - a word to describe everyone on both teams

fuck 64 tick - madmadmad

"need drop" = common to say when you cant afford a decent gun, and your teammates have extra cash.

**ninja defuse = to secretly defuse, example

demo - the replay file of a match

smurf/smurfing - To play on a different account, for whatever the reason may be, to be ranked against lower-rank players.

GLHF - Good luck, have fun. Always remember it's just a game!

GG - Good game.

legged - To shoot someone in the leg, usually with an AWP. This most likely means the person will die in 1 hit of a pistol.

Kappa - Represents sarcasm, irony, puns, jokes, and trolls alike. If you see this term used outside of Twitch.tv, then this is not the correct definition. Usually used at the end of an ironic or sarcastic sentence. Sentences that contain a Kappa should not be taken seriously. If you search "Kappa Twitch.tv" in Google you can see what the emote looks like, and why it is used as it is. (Sentences that use Kappa do not always have to make sense.) ex "GeT_RiGhT quit to become a pornstar Kappa" (/u/iHuntGoblins)

buy out - To buy as many things as possible because it's the last round of the half or game. Usually used as a command, e.g. "Last round of the half, guys. Buy out!"

drop a X bomb - To get at least a certain number of kills in a single game. X is usually 30, but sometimes 20. Some people say X for every 10 kills, others for every kill. e.g. "He dropped a 3 bomb last game" or "He dropped a 30 bomb last game" could both describe someone getting 30+ kills.

pick, get a pick - Used to describe a kill when both the T and CT are staying in fairly static defensive positions and taking pot shots at each other.

Prefire - shooting where you expect someone to be before actually seeing them (you heard them/etc.), sometimes through the wall.

CT - Counter-Terrorist.

T - Terrorist.

CT/T Spawn - Counter-Terrorist or Terrorist spawn.

rotate - For a player to leave the area he's defending or attacking and go to another area.

WP^/hacker - well played**

BM - Bad Mannered. (/u/JordanDayZ)

PUG - Pick Up Game

Frag - No, not the grenade! To "frag" is to kill. Bottom fragger? Lowest kills. Top Fragger? Most kills.

Strat - strategy. Usually called by a team leader in mid-to-high-level play.

wwwwwwwwwwwwwwad - accidently hit y and just realized why I couldn't move anymore

rush - TO NOT STOP. LEARN THIS INSTEAD OF USING SOMEONE'S ASS AS A PILLOW, PLEASE.

WALK - WALK. Default is Left-Shift, please use this.

pcw - Practice Clan War.

dinked/Gooshed/ - when you land a headshot on someone with a helmet with a weapon that isn't one shot kill (pistols, m4, galil, famas, etc). It's gushed when it's no helmet. Basically means one more bullet will kill him. creds to The_Tobaughn

ESL/ESEA - Electronic Sports League/counter-strike e-sports. place for competitive leaguing other than the in-game option available on GO.

noobs - a word to describe everyone on your team (except for the one saying it) when you lose a round

Now, for some map terminology.

silo/marshmellow - that big thing right next to T spawn on de_nuke that looks like a marshmellow.

plant for long - Positioning the planted bomb on Dust 2 so that a terrorist (bomb defender) can play from long A (pit/long platform) and kill anyone attempting to defuse the bomb.

plant for short/cat - Positioning the planted bomb on Dust 2 so that a terrorist (bombo defender) can play from short/catwalk and kill anyone attempting to defuse the bomb. (/u/The-Anchor)

NoA stack - to headstack to see over smokes at mid on Dust2 (/u/mcmk3)

Got something to add? Say it in the comments below and I will consider editing it in with credits where it's due! :) ghlf!

EDIT: Front of the CS:GO Reddit. My life is complete.

CS:GO Terminology

The eco-round explanation thread spawned this idea...

Can we get a list going of in-game terms that the community uses? Think it would be helpful to share!

FIRST OF ALL - THIS is an album of terms for places in CS maps de_dust2, de_inferno, de_nuke and de_train posted by /u/samaoo below.

Molly = Molotov / incendiary grenade

lo3 = Live on three restarts

eco round = 'saving round' where players buy pistols, grenades, or nothing in an attempt to save.

anti-eco - know enemy team is going eco, so you buy weapons specialized for making money (smgs, shotguns).

Totem = to stand on another player and defend an area.

counter flash - throw flash after enemy flash.

lit - damaged.

wall banging = shooting a player through a surface that allows bullets to penetrate.

walling = hacking and being able to see through walls.

nade stacking = when players throw a sequence of grenades in a particular direction.

stacking = when more players than usual defend or rush a particular bomb site.

ESEA = counter-strike e-sports. place for competitive match-making other than the in-game option available on GO.

Strat- strategy. Usually called by a team leader in mid-to-high-level play.

Deco- eco round with deagles.

Save/Save round- another name for an eco round. Little to nothing is bought for the purpose of saving money to buy guns in the next round, if possible.

to boost = jumping on a teammates back to get to places where couldn't on your own.

caller = the guy who calls the strats.

"need drop" = common to say when you cant afford a decent gun, and your teammates have more cash than you.

ninja defuse = defuse like a ninja.

demo= the replay file of a match.

mr15 = max rounds 15 (most common competitive game mode).

lo2 = lotto (being lucky).

l2p = learn to play.

pcw = personal clan war. And some quick chat terms:

GG: good game.

"RWS" Round wins shared - the current "skill" stat used by esea

"Bottom frag/top frag" = Lowest amount of kills/highest

live = match has started and is on-going

TK: Team Kill/er

FF: Friendly Fire

PUG: Pick Up Game

GH: good half.

WP = well played

GLHF: Good luck, have fun.

buy out = To buy as many things as possible because it's the last round of the half or game. Usually used as a command, e.g. "Last round of the half, guys. Buy out!"

drop a X bomb = To get at least a certain number of kills in a single game. X is usually 30, but sometimes 20. Some people say X for every 10 kills, others for every kill. e.g. "He dropped a 3 bomb last game" or "He dropped a 30 bomb last game" could both describe someone getting 30+ kills.

KD = Kill to Death ratio. e.g. 1.5 KD or 2.0 KD

pick, get a pick = Used to describe a kill when both the T and CT are staying in fairly static defensive positions and taking pot shots at each other.

rotate = For a player to leave the area he's defending or attacking and go to another area.

glhfmb = (good luck, have fun, make babies)

Prefire -> shooting where you expect someone to be before actually seeing them (you heard them/etc.), sometimes through the wall

ns -> "nice shot"

What have I missed?

Source:
https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/13vvin/csgo_terminology_101/

CSGO Launch Options

How to Set Launch Options in CS:GO

Open Steam and enter your Library;
Right click on CS:GO and choose Properties;
Choose the tab General and press the button Set Launch Options;
Enter commands of your choice, press OK, and launch the game.

Follow simple rules while entering CS:GO Launch Settings:

Start each command with - or +
Separate commands by spaces
Don’t use quotes - " "

-full/-fullscreen - the game will launch in fullscreen mode

-window/-windowed - CS:GO launches in a standard window

-noborder - the game window has no borders

+r_dynamic [0/1] - this command helps you disable (0) and enable (1) dynamic lighting

-x - the position of the CS:GO window on the screen (horizontally)

-y - the position of the CS:GO window on the screen (vertically)

-w/width - with this commands you can set the window width (resolution)

h/height - with this commands you can set the window height (resolution)

-tickrate - a tick rate for your offline server and matches with bots. The default value here is 64. Increase it to get the game information refreshed more often. Bigger tick rates might overload your computer

+fps max 0 - play with no limitations on the maximal CS:GO FPS. Use your value to set this limitation, for example, +fps max 60 (or even less to have CS:GO FPS boost on outdated computers);

+cl_showfps 1 - to show FPS CS:GO

-high - CS:GO gets the highest priority from the computer

-novid - the game launches without the short starting video

-nojoy - to disable joysticks. This slightly decreases the load on the computer

-console - the CS:GO developer console will be open after the game launch

-language [English] - to activate the English interface of CS:GO. You can use another language as well

-refresh - this command selects how many times the pixels on the monitor will be refreshed per second

-threads - enter here the number of CPU’s cores. Use the command if your CPU has three or more cores (it’s how to make CS:GO faster via a single action). It might have no influence because the game often makes the same on its own

+r_drawparticles 0 - remove particles animation, so the picture will become simpler, but the performance might improve

+cl_forcepreload 1 - computer loads virtual model and textures before the match, decreasing the load during the game

-nod3d9ex1 - to disable the technology Direct3D 9Ex. Try to experiment with this command to see its real effect on the performance of your computer

-lv - the command removes blood and thus reduces the load on your computer

-autoconfig - use this command to clear up all the custom settings and return to default
