2) IIRC you've got a couple of hours to translate the given text (if you're able to apply - see above). I think that application can expire if you don't translate it within a given time frame. Not sure whether the text can change, it definitely can when your application gets declined.
3) Latam is a codeword for Latin American Spanish - I guess it was added to differentiate between European Spanish and the one used in countries in South America.
4) As far as I know, Pirate was a test language at one point or something. It's discontinued and you cannot apply using it as nobody checks it.
5) Generally each user has a limit of suggestions at any given time. More on that in the FAQ: https://translation.steampowered.com/index.php
1) We are taking a look at the current queue right now to clear slots for new applicants. I suggest trying to send a new application starting tomorrow (or now — if the Submit button on the page is not disabled and there is not any warning about the queue being full, it means you can send your application to us).
2) Usually, when an application time limit expires, the source text is changed for the applicant.
3) LATAM is the internal Valve name for Latin American Spanish, just like Brazilian is the internal name for Brazilian Portuguese.
4) Yes, but the Pirate project was put on indefinite hold some years ago and won't be made official, unfortunately.
5) In case your application is approved, you will get full access to STS, with a starting limit of 25 translations. When these translations are approved or declined, your limit will be replaced and, eventually, expanded.
Also, since the brazillian applications are open now, I decided to send my own. I hope it gets accepted, I read the guidelines and followed most of the rules.
