Catalyst Gaming LAN VIII: 88 Gamers, 1 Epic CSS Tourney and The DM Eulogy

Catalyst Gaming is goign to be holding their next big LAN gaming event on the 26th-27th of March at the tramsheds function center once again, for the second time in 2011! Starting at 3pm until 9am the next morning.

Games being played this time include CoD4, CSS, Warcraft 3, Split Second, and Halo 3 on the noob-box-360. There will be decent cash prizes to winners and winning teams of every competition as well as a lucky door prize and MVP prizes.

Catalyst Gaming is holding their next big LAN event on the 5th-6th of Febuary at the tramsheds function center once again, and for the first time in 2011.

Games being played this time include CoD4, CSS, Dawn of War, Minecraft, Trackmania Nations Forever and Forza 3+Halo Reach on the noob-box-360. There will be decent cash prizes to winners and winning teams of every competition as well as a large lucky door prize and MVP prizes.

Catalyst Gaming LAN VI: Interrogation

Sup noobs, Catalyst Gaming have just announced their latest public LAN gaming event!
With over $600 worth of prizes up for grabs in games such as F1 2010, CSS, DoTA, COD4, and BF2 it's a great night of gaming for those of you with a competitive streak (*cough* A.I.D.S noobs *cough*).

And even if you don't win anything, the comps are great fun and they manage a full gigabit network ready for some file sharing action with other LAN goers (some with over 4TB of random stuff up for sharing).

Steam Account Hackings

It has come to my attention that two people on my friends list have got their Steam accounts "hacked". Basically they have somehow been linked to a Steam community and/or store webpage which looks legit but is run by some fuckmunchers living in the gayest country in the world, probably with an almost as high suicide rate as Lithuania.

When on the fake websites they have then typed in their account user name and password to login to the seemingly legit Steam website. Not long after they get their account taken over by these homosexuals, and the hackers change your Steam password.

To prevent this from happening to you dumbfucks, I have provided the necessary steps to protect your account:

1. VERIFY YOUR ACCOUNT!!! Go to Steam Settings and verify the email address linked to your account. This ensures if anyone tries to change your Steam password they will need to know your email password to confirm the Steam account password change.

2. CHANGE YOUR EMAIL PASSWORD!!! If your email password and Steam password is the same it won't be hard for the hackers to change your password will it? Using a different password for both email and Steam will prevent this.

3. MAKE SURE YOU ONLY PROVIDE YOUR STEAM DETAILS TO THE REAL STEAM SITE!!! Just check to see the site you are on is the proper Steam store/community page before you login. Easy way to tell is they change the spelling of the web URL around by a few letters if it is a fake site.

4. IF ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS GET'S HACKED THEN REMOVE THEM FROM YOUR FRIEND'S LIST!!! This will hopefully slow the hackers down as they then can't talk to you and can't try to link you to their fake websites which try to steal your info.

5. DON'T BE A DUMBFUCK!!!

Yeah so long as you follow these steps you should be OK. If you only have a few games on Steam then I guess it's not as important but for anyone like myself with a decent games collection it could be a pretty big loss :(

Catalyst Gaming LAN III: Intruder Alert

Catalyst Gaming is a North Tasmanian gaming group who hold regular LAN events.
Their third event "LAN III: Intruder Alert" is being held on the 8th-9th of May and anyone who can take their own computer and is over 15 can go. The cost is $20 for pre-registered or $25 for turning up on the day.
