Server Guide Part 2
Server Guide (Part 2)
Part 2 is all about the tanks and their abilities.

Tanks
There are several types of tanks (default, super, boss) which can spawn throughout the course of a campaign.
Guide:
(Priority) #1 Priority. Deal with them ASAP!

Normal Tank
Difficulty Rating (1/10)
Basically your standard everyday tank, encountered in vanilla, no differences here. If you know how to counter a basic tank, then you shouldn’t have any problems here.

Tips:
  • Watch out for rocks; If the tank plans on throwing a rock at you, you can either bait and dodge, or shoot the rock down.
  • These guys only spawn on Easy, Normal, and Advanced. You’ll never encounter them on Expert
  • On the contrary, only these guys will spawn on the Easy difficulty finale stages.

Demon Tank
Difficulty Rating (4 /10)
This tank from hell is fast with his punches, don’t underestimate him just because he can’t throw rocks. In fact, use that knowledge to your advantage! Getting close to him will likely result in your life fading quickly as he will burst your health down.

Tips:
  • This tank only speeds up his attack only when he’s able to hit somebody! If you know how to kite, then this tank is as easy as pie! (as long as you don’t have any commons or SI to ruin the fun!)
  • Shotguns are one of the best weapons against tanks, though it does mean you’ll need to be up close to maximize its damaging potential.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495073947
Fire Tank
Difficulty Rating (6/10)
Not all fires will be safe, as it’s only if they’re thrown by a survivor. This tank will throw fires that are safe for the infected. Watch your step, and try to get rid of him before everything goes up in flames. (Expert Fire damage does a maximum of 8 damage per tick, or 40 damage per second, better get out of there quick!)

Tips:
  • Since the fire only comes from the tanks rocks/roots, then try to stick close to him to make sure he doesn’t throw anything. If you know how to dodge a tank’s punches, then you can take him down with no burn marks.
  • If it’s too risky to get close, at least try to shoot down his projectiles. The fire won’t land near you, but it’ll land where the rock was (on the ground, not in the air), which will hopefully be a better outcome.

Sonic Tank
Difficulty Rating (6/10)(Priority) | Level Recommendation: (15+)
Rolling around at the speed of sound, he’s got places to go and to follow the scent of your fear. You cannot get by this tank without him punching you, jukes and tricks won’t slow him down much, as his climbing speed is also increased. But he will focus on one person at a time instead of a group of people. Though, he will switch targets once he’s bored, or if the person he’s focused on is dead.

Tips:
  • Player’s below Level 15 will get knocked around if they’re targeted. If you aren’t being swung around, you can use that to your advantage to get some damage in before you’re next.
  • There is a 37.5% chance he will switch targets after a successful swipe. You can get very unlucky and have him on you 24/7 until you’re dead!
  • Kiting this tank is way more difficult due to his speed, you can dodge his punches if you double jump while backing away, but its not easy to do so.

Tesla Tank
Difficulty Rating (5/10)
This tank has a shocking personality. If you get too close you can get zapped from a bolt of lightning. This damages and slows you down, making it difficult to maneuver. A swipe does the same but you will also lose vision for a second which can be disorientating.

Tips:
  • This tank doesn't throw rocks, as long as you stay at a medium distance you are safe to engage.
  • Being close is not recommended. If you get zapped or swiped the slowdown can get you mobbed by other tanks and killed.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495072499
Ghost Tank
Difficulty Rating (4/10)
Ghosts? In the zombie apocalypse? Like that’ll ever hap- oof! Aw man, I couldn’t even see that tank coming! And now the weapon/item I was holding has been knocked out of my hands! Though, just like sonic, he’ll only focus on one person at a time. He’s not much of a beefy tank, but as a disruptor that will ruin your chances of victory than pummel them.

Tips:
  • The only way to know where this tank is? If he’s recently punched a survivor, or if he’s biled. Go for the latter option before anybody loses their guns.
  • If you got good eyes, you’ll be able to see this tank even before he’s biled or punching.
  • Special Infected will turn invisible when around this tank within 500 units. Keep your wits about.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495071880
Spitter Tank
Difficulty Rating (4/10)
You ever hate spitters and their acid? This tank amps it up by spitting them nonstop! He doesn’t throw rocks at you, meaning the only way to avoid the spit is to stay away, but even then, he may stop for a bit to find another survivor to spit at instead.

Tips:
  • A thin fence to stand on means you can usually avoid the spit even when it’s surrounded you as long as you’re standing on the fence.
  • Do be wary if you’re jumping. If a spit projectile hits your foot mid-air, you may gain so much height you’ll die of fall damage!

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495075011
Pulverizer Tank
Difficulty Rating (5/10)
This tank jumps into the air, and then slams down, stumbling survivors around him. But he’ll need some time to recharge before he continues his stomping assault. But watch out, if he jumps on your head, you’ll be instantly incapped!

Tips:
  • If the ceiling is low enough, this tank won’t jump at all, effectively neutralizing his ability. But that won’t stop him from trying to punch you.
  • If you time your jump, you can avoid being stumbled at the very least.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495073378
Warp Tank
Difficulty Rating (4/10)
No walls or barriers will stop this tank, as he’ll simply warp with any infected nearby to get close to his target. He’ll focus on one target before switching over to the next. He’ll even target anybody incapped as well, which can make it difficult to stay alive sometimes. His swipes can even swap the survivor with another random survivor, which can throw some things off.

Tips:
  • Warp tank will only warp if he’s considered far from his target, meaning that most of the time, you’ll be in close-range combat whether you want to or not.
  • Beware you can get teleported to another survivor position if that person was swiped at, which could put you in a bad spot.
  • This tank doesn’t have any other tricks, kiting can be used if you can predict his attack, and staying close by can prevent him from warping to a different position.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495074129
Jockey Tank
Difficulty Rating: (7/10)(Priority)
Jockeys are already one of the more annoying pest-like special infected, but to have a tank that continues to spawn more and more of them? You might wanna start shooting him and his jockeys down before all the survivors are down.

Tips:
  • If you’re Lv 18+, and can tank the damage. While using the chainsaw, stand close to the tank and you can kill the jockeys as soon as he throws them while also simultaneously damaging the tank if you aim correctly.
  • Afraid of being dragged away? If your mouse sensitivity is high enough, you can spin in place to make sure you can stand still while the other survivors shoot the jockey down.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495075154
Witch Tank
Difficulty Rating: (4/10)(Priority) | Level Recommendation: (4+)
This tank makes it so that common spawns are replaced with witches for the duration this tank is alive! Try not to get incapped, as if there are many witches around you, you might not get to live for long.

Tips:
  • This tank doesn’t have any other tricks up its non-existent sleeves. Just watch your HP, as witch attacks can be very deadly when there's a lot of them around.
  • Level 4 allows you to shove infected that surround you, witches included! Use it to your advantage to stun them and flee.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495073194
Gravity Tank
Difficulty Rating: (7/10)(Priority)
This dark, purple-outlined tank may move slow, but that doesn't mean you should get too close either. As soon as you’re near him, you’ll start to be pulled towards him, and it doesn’t matter if you’re Level 15 or not, you’ll get knocked back as soon as he punches you, and if he’s locked onto you and got you cornered? He’ll start to combo you into an incap with barely any chance of escaping.

Tips:
  • Keep your distance, any weapon with good range is useful here. A shotgun will risk yourself getting pulled.
  • Due to how slow the Gravity Tank moves, you can tap your movement key in small bursts while doing damage and avoiding being pulled. Though watch your surroundings, any commons or SI can be a means to drag you to his reaches.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495141902
Shield Tank
Difficulty Rating (7/10)(Priority)
The shield can only be brought down after enough damage has been done, but his shield also covers any SI nearby, meaning in order to retire them, you need to bring Shield Tank’s shield down first. After a period of time, the shield will reenergize.

Tips:
  • The more people focusing gunfire on this tank, the faster his shield will start to go down.
  • All SIs (except for the charger) can be knocked back with a simple shove. Use this to delay any damage/distractions for a bit until you can successfully destroy the shield.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495074300
Meteor Tank
Difficulty Rating (7/10)(Priority) | Recommended Level: (15+)
This tank will summon falling flaming rocks all around him, you might get lucky with a couple, but if you do get hit by them, you will get stunned, and potentially combo’d into a punch! If you’re below Level 15, avoid close quarters with this tank.

Tips:
  • Due to the meteors being the tank’s rocks, you can shoot them down, but it would be wise to just use your ammo on the tank itself.
  • Low ceilings will be helpful, but not a foolproof strategy. There's less chances for a meteor to hit you while dealing with a meteor tank.
  • Lure this tank away from sentries! One meteor is all it takes to bring it down.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495073814
Wraith Tank
Difficulty Rating (5/10)
This tank is semi-transparent and will have one wraith hunter chained with him, that hunter is immortal til’ you kill Wraith Tank. While you can see the wraiths due to their outlines, you can also pass through them if you need to get by, though do watch out as the hunter will snap back to Wraith Tank’s position if he gets far enough.

Tips:
  • If you’re able to, you can keep knocking the hunter around while another teammate damages the Wraith Tank to minimize the damage done to your other survivors.
  • If you bile both the hunter and wraith, they will be focused on each other, giving the other survivors time to shoot down wraith. Just be sure not to get too close, as the hunter can still pin you down if you aren’t careful.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495074731
Ice Tank
Difficulty Rating (6/10)(Priority)
Does the cold bother you? If it does, you’ll hate this tank. His freezing cold powers allow him to temporarily freeze you in-place for around 8 seconds, whether it’s through a punch or his icy rocks that he throws insanely quick! He will focus on one target, and until they’re incapped, dead, or SI dominated, he isn’t switching off. Watch your positioning and take him out before he takes you out!

Tips:
  • If you feel like you can deal with being targeted by an ice tank, you can use a chainsaw to bait him into targeting you instead, sparing the life of his previous soon-to-be victim.
  • The bait-and-dodge trick should work as well here. If you wish, there is a distance where a tank won’t punch or throw his rock, and if you’re able to keep within that distance as you’re attacking, it can work well too!

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495075574
Laserbeam Tank
Difficulty Rating (4/10)
Once this tank has found a target, it will start shooting lasers from it’s eyes, constantly dealing damage unless you find an obstacle to barricade yourself. He’ll continue going after you until you’re out of sight, then he’ll go after the nearest survivor, which might mean you again. This tank can also take out sentries, meaning you may need to set your sentries up again once this tank has been dealt with.

Tips:
  • Since this tank will only hard-focus once he starts to laser, use the opportunity to get damage in before he moves on.
  • This tank will eventually start moving if you aren’t incapped, use this knowledge however you see fit.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495075760
Lich Tank
Difficulty Rating (8/10)(Priority)
While the damage this tank deals is on par with the normal tank, it’s ability is bound to put you in danger. Any SI killed during his stay will be revived after a couple of seconds, more eager to kill the survivors, and more durable to not die from a full shotgun clip to the head! This tank is not just a priority, but it’s a #1 priority that one must deal with before they’re overrun. And if you do manage to get hit, he turns all, but one, of your health points from permanent to temporary, sort of like a certain system from a certain skeleton… Take care of him quickly, and hopefully you won’t have a bad time.

Tips:
  • This tank is the support base of pretty much any combo that ruins your life, try bring him down first!
  • Using a bile bomb on an SI will bring the focus of even the tanks onto that SI, on a liched SI means they will lure for quite a bit due to their tanky HP. Use this to your advantage.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495075940
Controller Tank
Difficulty Rating (5/10)(Priority)
This tank may seem slow, but one look at him will temporarily stun you, and remove your ability to shoot back for a few moments! His targeting system functions similar to the ghost tank, where they’ll focus on one survivor, and once they look at him, he’ll go after the next nearest survivor. Try not to be fooled by his good looks!

Tips:
  • If you know the Controller is on you, map knowledge and baiting is key! He won’t attack any other survivor unless directly in his way, and due to how slow he is, you can easily get him into a position where your other teammates can rain fire upon him.
  • Any line of sight, no matter how small or large, can be used against you. The further you are away from him, the more you’ll be paused until you get damaged, keep this in mind!

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495076081
Berserker Tank
Difficulty Rating (4/10)
This tank loves halloween, so much he decided to get a slashing upgrade! Don’t get too close, he’ll knock anybody back with his chainsaw arms even if you’re Level 15. Especially around high ledges where you can die from fall damage. If you’re far, he’ll start swinging machetes at you as well! Getting hit by machetes will slow you and start causing bleed damage, losing a bit of health overtime.

Tips:
  • This tank will continue trying to punch you if you get too close, so the normal kiting won’t work. Perhaps wait until he’s on a cooldown to try again?
  • Dodging his machete is relatively simple, moving back and forth. You just need to get the timing right.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495076360
Burer Tank
Difficulty Rating (7.5/10)(Priority)
This tank has telekinesis powers. He’ll pick up any object, (items, guns, etc.) and he’ll use them against you! They’ll momentarily float with a blue aura, before throwing them at a nearby player, or using weapons to shoot you. Even the items equipped on you will be removed! You should especially watch out for shotguns.

Tips:
  • You can pick up the items before they’re used against you. Do this especially if you see a gun floating, they can do a lot of damage, especially on expert.
  • This tank, alongside Lich, is one of the more prioritizing tanks you should absolutely deal with first. Focus fire on this tank, before it’s too late.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495076228
Rocket Tank
Difficulty Rating (5/10)
Explosions, explosions! This tank will launch rockets at survivors far away, dealing a good chunk of damage to anyone caught in the explosions!

Tips:
  • This tank won’t launch rockets at survivors close by, he doesn’t want to get caught up in his own rockets!
  • Keeping the other tip in mind, get close by to avoid being targeted by his rockets, he’ll act no different from other normal tanks otherwise.

Boss Tanks
Only on Advanced and Expert will you have a chance to fight against a boss tank. They only spawn on the last wave, and have either a 25% (Advanced) or 50% (Expert) to spawn. One way to know before they actually spawn is if no other super tanks, besides Normals and/or Demons, will spawn. You will gain a lot of XP for killing them, but it’ll also be a challenge to stay alive as well. No survivor deaths will be very hard, if not impossible, when a boss is on the playing field. Expect to die.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495076507
Error 0x74616E6B (Error 0x74616E6B)
Difficulty Ranking (4/4) (1=Least Dangerous 4=Most Dangerous)
This tank is a glitch in the system, an indescribable mess that somehow is able to hold up. But if anything, try not to get caught up in the mess, or his error rocks. One hit and it’s game over. Your corpse will also be error’d. Not only that, but his error rocks also have an explosion radius, meaning that even if it doesn’t directly hit you, it can still spell your doom. Error is also very fast, meaning that like sonic, you may not be able to kite him.

Tips:
  • Remember that all boss tanks will be accompanied by a band of Demons and Normals, which can interfere with your strategy. And if you’re biled? Pray.
  • Error’d corpses can still be revived, try to have someone Level 20 on defib duty and to make sure that error is as far from them as possible so people don’t immediately die as soon as they come back from the dead.
  • Knowing the area is also key, as the longer you’re able to distract error, the better chances will be, and some added time to reintegrate and plan your attack.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495074448
Nightmare Tank (A horror from the darkness creeps out of the shadows..)
Difficulty Ranking (2/4)
This tank will slow any survivors down, up to a maximum of 5, when they’re nearby. The more chained, the slower the survivors are. Try not to be grouped up, as one hit will send a survivor straight down, not down down though. While not entirely dead, this tank will also focus on any nearby incapped survivors, so if you go down while a nightmare is nearby? Good night. The tank itself won’t change speed.

Tips:
  • The less survivors around, the better the chances are to escape. Though you should also avoid close-quarters at all cost as well. Stick to weaponry that aren’t shotguns if you can’t afford to be chased.
  • Big areas are more suited to help get away, especially if you can use the obstacles around to your advantage. Any small, closed areas will make it very hard to avoid nightmare.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495076673
Vore Tank (The air fills with a putrid stench..)
Difficulty Ranking (3/4)
Quite literally to his name, this tank will eat up any survivor he sees. And he’ll also barf (bile) on anybody close by that already isn’t, so that every other infected can help grab his lunch. He’ll even snare you with a smoker-like tongue, dragging you closer and closer until- gulp! Any survivor caught by vore will not be revivable until he’s dead.

Tips:
  • If the situation absolutely calls for it, take the option of dying normally, instead of being vored. At least there, you have a chance to get back into the fray.
  • If vore is using his tongue to drag any victims, shoot the head to stop it before it may be too late. With that in mind, always keep an eye on vore.
  • If vore is completely focused on a biled survivor, now’s the time to hop in and deal as much damage as you can before it’s too late. Use the 2nd tip as well to give the biled survivor a chance to flee. Keep in mind how long it’ll take before the bile wears off.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3495075342
Gnome Tank (You hear the sounds of laughter getting closer..)
Difficulty Rating (1/4)
This very jovial tank will keep on laughing, at your eventual demise or at a funny joke? Who’s to say? Getting hit by this tank will turn you into a pile of gnomes! (or whatever you modded to replace the gnome) In order to be revived, another survivor will need to go through the gnomes and pick the correct one to bring you back. This tank will also have a burst of speed whenever the target he’s focused on isn’t quite dead yet. Any gnomes still around that aren’t the survivors when this tank falls can be yours for the taking, for healing if needed.

Tips:
  • Just because this tank is the least dangerous of the boss gang doesn’t mean you should underestimate it, especially with the aforementioned group of demons/normals. Keep your wits about.
  • If you hide behind an obstacle for long enough, the gnome may forget about you and focus on another survivor out in the open. You can use this if you feel like gnome may get too close.
  • Never stick very close by to other survivors, keep a distance between one another so the others may have a chance while one can try to grab gnomes to revive.

There is a new way to level using the prestige system. The traditional way you level is referred to as XP Level and there is now Prestige Level. You can gain a Prestige Level when you are at level 24 and choose to unlock a prestige perk. When you do, your XP Level will reset back to level 0 but the perks are permanent and available no matter what XP Level you are. You can level up each ability up to 10 times for a total Prestige Level of 80. Here is the list of perks:

  • +5 maximum health (maximum of an additional +50 hp at level 10)
  • 2% respawn after death chance (maximum of a 20% chance to revive after death at level 10) (This perk will activate 5 seconds after death and at least one other player is alive)
  • 2% damage reflection chance (maximum of a 20% chance to reflect that you would have taken as damage at level 10) (If you have the Dodge perk, that will always roll before damage reflection, two separate rolls. The damage reflected is always what damage you could have received, for example you get hit from a Nightmare tank swipe for 600 damage but you only had 50 health, the reflected damage would be 50 damage)
  • 1% penetration chance (maximum of 10% chance at level 10) (Penetration is a combination of many damage types DMG_BLAST, DMG_DISMEMBER, DMG_PLASMA, you can one shot Riot infected, stagger witches and special infected)
  • +7 temporary revive health (maximum of +70 temporary hp at level 10)
  • +5 hats available in the !hats menu (maximum of 50 available hats for selection)
  • +3% keep consumable on use chance (maximum 30% chance at level 10)
  • +10 incapacitation crawl speed (maximum +100 crawl speed at level 10)

Sentry !sentry
The sentry is a perk that is unlocked at level 17 which allows you to summon an automated sentry which will lock onto and fire at selected targets. You can select various options for your sentry to prioritize which are as follows:

Domination
Special Infected
Tank
Witch
Common

There are also filter settings to exclude infected you don't want the sentry to fire at if you choose.

InstaCappers
Throughout the course of your L4D2 campaign, you may notice special infected with a green outline. These are called InstaCappers and they will automatically incapacitate you if they hit you with their special move. Slashing, clawing, or punching won’t cause an incapacitation. InstaCappers and Undead Special Infected get +30% movement speed and they have no cooldown for their abilities.

Glowing Orange Skulls
What are the weird glowing heads that the SI (except witches) drop once they’re dead? They’re lootboxes! They’ll give you a random item (no weapons) that you can use to help against the horde.

In this server there are no iFrames (invincibility frames) or throttling for the hits for survivors, you can get hit repeatedly. If you get mobbed and go down it doesn't take long for them to kill you.

There is timer that is fired every half second. In advanced and Expert difficulties there is calculations in place to spawn enraged witches that will seek out random survivors and try to kill them. The witches in this server will not instantly down you but do significant damage.
  • Advanced: 12% chance to spawn with a limit of 8 maximum witches on the battlefield.
  • Expert: 16% chance, max limit 12
  • Timer: 20% chance, max limit 16
  • Witch Tank: Timer still applies but is overridden from Witch Tank mechanics. All regular infected will not spawn and instead will be replaced by enraged witches. The limit is dictated from the common_limit variable of the map script.

Fallen Survivor Infected have a 1/100 chance to replace a regular infected any time one is spawned.

Riot Infected play a big part in the server. They have 1000 health and can't be damaged from shooting head on, you need to shoot them in the back or use penetrating weapons i.e. Magnum, Snipers, M60 or Grenade Launcher. Getting the prestige perk Penetrating Ammo is a good neutralizer for these guys.
They start replacing regular infected on Normal and higher difficulties.
Normal 3/100 chance, Advanced 6/100 chance, Expert 9/100 chance.

Finales
Apart from The Parish and Cold Stream, all standard campaigns uses the same template for hold out finale stages. In gascan collecting finales i.e. Atrium, Port and Lighthouse, these maps have been modified and removed the entire gascan collection mechanic from them. You only need to survive!
  • Stage 1: PANIC
  • Stage 2: PANIC
  • Stage 3: PANIC
  • Stage 4: TANK
  • Stage 5: TANK
  • Stage 6: TANK
  • Stage 7: PANIC
  • Stage 8: TANK
  • Stage 9: DELAY
  • Stage 10: ESCAPE

During the TANK stage, the number of tanks spawned changes depending on the difficulty.
  • Stage 4: Easy/Normal 1 Advanced 2 Expert 3
  • Stage 5: Easy 1 Normal 2 Advanced 3 Expert 4
  • Stage 6: Easy 2 Normal 3 Advanced 4 Expert 5
  • Stage 8: Easy 3 Normal 4 Advanced 5 Expert 6

Throughout the finales in this server, infected mobs are always allowed to spawn with the Tanks and even spawn quicker when they are in play.

Weapons
Aside from all the changes you get from the level system, some weapons act differently than their vanilla counterparts.

  • Rifles: No changes were made to rifles.
  • Shotguns: Range has been nerfed dramatically, Tier 1 Shotguns have a range of 1000 units until their shells are ineffective. Tier 2 Shotguns have a range of 800 units. But, to make up for this, they reload all the shells in the clip instantaneously, making it a powerful burst weapon against tanks.
  • Snipers: Their rate of fire has been reduced, but their damage output is still the same. They also have a natural penetration bonus, allowing you to damage riot infected more easily.
  • Pistols: While the normal pistol and dual pistols haven’t been changed, the magnum has a buffed fire rate, reload speed, and damage to make it easier to deal with any infected around. Especially witches.

Miscellaneous notes
  • Any player carrying the gnome item will heal while in possession of it. There is at least 1 gnome hidden in every standard campaign.
  • There is no friendly fire.
  • Players will still receive XP even if they are dead.
  • Players do not receive XP if they are idle/spectating.
  • Trying to leave and rejoin when you’re dead will lock you out until the round restarts when the campaign finale starts, or moves on to the next map.
  • Saferooms are not safe! The doors can be breached. If enough infected pound on the door they can force it down.

TIMER!
The timer mechanic doesn’t come into play until Advanced or Expert, or while in the Safe Room. For Advanced and Expert, You’ll have a limited amount of time per map before the director will start spawning demon tanks, progressing through the map (called map flow) will temporarily pause the timer. If no one has made it to the saferoom when the timer activates, it will steadily start increasing the amount of demon tanks spawned and decrease times between special infected spawnrates, until it eventually reaches the limit. Timer can also start on any difficulty when more than half the amount of players (alive at the moment) are in the saferoom. When that happens, the timer will immediately hit the limit and the tanks will redirect to anybody outside the saferoom and their damage output has been increased (Rocks and swipes increase to 100 damage per hit!). When the timer hits the limit, demon tanks will activate their hidden ability which is a tongue that while doesn’t dominate, will drag you towards the them and almost certainly leads to death.
