Servers

DFS hosts 2 servers that are online 24/7, with fast downloads allowing you to hop in easily!

You can use the "connect [IP]" command in the console with the server IPs to directly join the server, for example you can type the following command in your console to join the DFS EU server!

DFS Finale: Continuation

Hey again!
This is a follow-up post on the recent DFS Finale Announcement to inform you all on details of the upcoming finale event.

For starters, I can't say I'm too shocked for Valve to release important TF2 news only 10 days after we announced our DFS news, after many years of no blog posts involving upcoming TF2 updates.

You may remember that we've put an important note in the last announcement regarding the finale event & closure date not being set in stone, this will come into effect today.
After a discussion between me and the higherup staff team, we've decided to delay the finale event and server closure until summer.

This will give us more time to prepare, flesh out and expand on our DFS Finale event, while letting us see where the state of TF2 is headed with the upcoming major update.

Please note: The DFS Finale event will happen, and not be delayed any further than Summer 2023. If any other important changes involving DFS ever happen, we'll make sure to let you know in advance.

In the meantime, I've added a ton of new custom maps for all gamemodes, as well as TF2 Chaos Mod, a RNG based gamemode by Mikusch, as a voteable gamemode to all Vanilla maps for everyone to enjoy and to have fun with!

When the time is right, the date and all details of the finale event will be announced in advance.

As someone who has been around this community and game for more than a decade, I once again give all my thanks to those who have stuck around and supported us over the years.

DFS: The Finale

Hey all! It's still hard to believe that it's been months since the tenth birthday of DFS, isn't it?
Life has been changing a lot in the last few years which I'm sure a lot of you can relate to, time flies really fast doesn't it? After a ton of changes and a multitude of drafts or so of this announcement, it is finally ready to be posted.

I'm sure many of you came in with a lot of different expectations, ranging from a reboot of the servers to continuation of that ancient DFS RPG game. But this announcement is for a different cause; a very important message to the entire DFS community.

A Message to the DFS Community

First of all, I wish to thank everyone who has been a part of Dispenz0r's Fun Server in any way during its lifetime.

The community regulars who've always been actively playing and shitposting in the servers, those who stuck around from the earlier days, Moderators who have watched over the servers so often to keep things clean and fun for everyone, Developers who have contributed exceptional, unique and unparalleled kind of content & support for the servers, even the individuals who vowed revenge after being banned; thank you so much for being a part of this wild ride.

It's truly been a long time, one filled with amazing and wonderful moments, it has been a one of a kind experience for me and I'm sure many others too. We started this as a stupid little friends server and ended up as a stupid big friends server.
I've seen so many come and go, so many friendships and memories being made, I've even had the honor of having DFS partake in multiple TF2 charity events in the past, and it truly has been heartwarming.
DFS is going to keep on existing as a memory, as most of us moved onto bigger things, and although we still have our DFS Discord server, the special moments will be embedded in the past, as they should be.

As for myself, DFS is where I grew up. I was so extremely young back then that I had the not so smart idea of implementing paid admins, but all that side of the past aside, I was really enjoying crafting and doing all sorts of new things with the servers and having many others enjoy my experiments brought me bliss. Unfortunately, the same sort of free time is no longer available to me and I'm sure many others too. We all wish we could go back to our childhood when there used to be seasonal major TF2 updates now don't we?
Sadly, not everything lasts forever, and shouldn't be forced to. All good things eventually must come to an end.

What made DFS unique was.. quite frankly, varied few and far between, most of the gamemodes were taken from other communities, our only exclusive gamemode Sandbox was inspired purely by Gmod. The maps were weird but pretty and unique in their own way, the playermodels that brought wackiness to the servers, the plugins being the heart & core of the servers.
But it was always the community and its evolution that made DFS very special, and it is not something that I can easily get back.

As sad as it is for me to say this, I have personally moved on and currently have no intention of returning to tending the DFS servers due to the lack of motivation, the ideas I have had for DFS will need to move on as well.

All that being said; The DFS TF2 servers will be taken down by March 10th, 2023.
Important note: The closure & finale date is not set in stone. If any important change of plans, migration or ownership change of sort happens by said date, we'll make sure to let you know in advance.

The DFS Discord[discord.com] server may continue to live on and will likely be reformed as the community is active around. Feel free to join us anytime.

A New Meet The Random Fortress!?

In these long 10 years, just when you thought we were done with the series after the tenth installment, Heavich presents you with yet another big surprise.

It started during the Spring of 2012. DFS was still a private server that was a playground for a small group of friends, amidst all the goofiness, I started pondering how much of a waste it would be to not preserve those hilarious moments in any way. That was the beginning for series we know as 'Meet The Random Fortress' today. What was once meant to be a random compilation for close friends to see, became an early 2010’s TF2 phenomenon. Ever since, the series has been walking hand in hand with the server itself as being a compilation of joyful memories and footage recorded from server events. After ten long memorable years, the golden days have passed and we all have new horizons up ahead in our lives. It is time to formally end the series along with the servers’ closure as thanks for the past years, new friends and wonderful memories. I am grateful to all the staff, members, visitors and viewers for making this series a long-running possibility, we've created memories I'll always cherish. DFS is not just about being a community within a game. It was a gateway to making lots of new friends I would never have met otherwise. -Heavich

The Finale Event

I will also be personally holding a DFS finale event, where we experience pleasant nostalgia as we go through the history of DFS together, while saying our last goodbyes before departing from Team Fortress 2, and it will be a big one.

Finale is a linear event with multiple showings. The event will likely be over an hour long and will take you back through the history of Dispenz0r's Fun Server by going through all of our previous main maps one by one. The event will take place throughout early March, and as we approach the date, more information will be revealed and posted on Steam & Discord. Hope to see you all soon!

Closing Words

The history we've had together will always stay with me; all the major updates, server events, wacky moments, drama, fun. I hope that you enjoyed it all, thank you for being a part of this project.
It has been a very, very fun ride and I will treasure the time and memories I've spent with others, playing, developing and more or less growing up together with.

I've been a frequent visitor on these servers for the better part of nine years, under a whole heaping host of names. It's heartbreaking to see the end approach, but damn if it hasn't been responsible for the funniest, most entertaining moments that I've ever had on TF2 as a whole!

May the future be bright for any endeavors to come. Thanks for every minute of hectic and hearty fun.

I too can say with all honest, that you are my best buddy I could ever interact with; even though it was a quiet messaging times but you are truly something I adore you in these wonderful years.

As for the Developers & Staff members out there I've meet and eventually became friends, I do not feel a single remorse or negative influence to me, as they were the greatest miracle I have ever seen before my eyes. Without them or you and these common rules, I wouldn't even achieve or learn something from this god blessing server I've stumbled into.

Oh, and if you wish; please give them all a warm hello from me, an oldest member learned from simple mistakes.

Again, thank you so much for these amazing years i've participated in my whole life as a TF2 video gamer.

Despite being a sad news, I still love every single things you've made waaay back. I loved the custom SF2 bosses, such as Alex Jones, Demogorgon and everything. Those things were a blast.

You were also an inspiration from your server to learn myself being able to "mature & common sense". Especially learning the source engine itself, Everything I've witnessed after these years right now are a gift and a memorable thing to me and I can honestly say this to you.

Thank you so much for such an amazing entertainment and a wonderful time for being on this great and majestic golden age.
Without you or DFS being a thing, I wouldn't even know what would I be and where would everybody go; but no, you instead to make a simple server, eventually becoming bigger and bigger. Eventually being famous for it's hilarious and funny moments.
