Moving forward: which games, how often?
I wanted to take a moment over the Christmas holidays to ask you guys a couple of questions concerning the TTLG coop Saturdays. Any answers and ideas are much appreciated!

1) Recently we've been alternating between Arma 2/Operation Arrowhead and GTA V. Are you still in for both of these games or have you grown tired of one or both?

2) Are there any other games you'd be interested in adding to the rotation, provided that enough people have them or are interested?

3) With Arma, would you perhaps be interested in adding a mod or two? I'm thinking of a handful of mods that add new maps, units and missions. They're large, but they're also unproblematic in terms of installing them - no issues with conflicts and the like.

As I've said, any comments would be helpful. In the meantime, I'm hoping to do a coop session on Saturday, 7 January. See you around and watch this space!

1: I think we've exhausted most of the GTAV coop content, and I'm kind of annoyed by its multiplayer systems. I dunno, maybe we could do the posse/gang thing, but that seems more for people who have oodles of time available. Arma 2 is still cool though.

2: Arma 3 is on sale now, is that an improvement in any way?
We're not through Monaco yet, though that did always devolve into Benny Hill chases. Also Dying Light.
Here's some games with (at least) 4-player coop (non-horde-mode) that might be worth checking out: AssCreed Unity, Syndicate (the FPS), HAWX, Brink, God Eater 2: Rage Burst, CODBLOPS3, SWAT4, EYE Divine Cybermancy, NOLF2 (?!), Descent 3, Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide, Magicka 1 & 2.
SWAT4, EYE, Descent 3, and Brink all support up to 8 players. EYE especially might be fun because it's so alien.

3: Sure!
1: Kinda with henke on Arma 2. I enjoy it, and it has has an incredible tension to it, but I'd like to play something where we stand a chance of winning more regularly. It can also be a pain in the ass.

GTAV will always be fun as long as they keep adding more low-level, low time-commitment content. Those light-cycle battles are a great laugh. And getting in to / out of cars with you guys never gets old. I am with Jesh on how bad the multiplayer system is though. It's like Rock Star never played a multiplayer game before.

2: Oooh, this is a big one.

I picked up Arma 3 in the sale, so am willing to give that a shot. Hopefully it's not as much of a PITA as its predecessor.

Thirith and I have played some Elite co-op. While I've not played the game in ages and some of its systems annoy the piss out of me, I reckon some 4-player co-op is worth investigating here.

I'd be up for more Dying Light, but I'd rather play it in post-completion or expansion mode. Running the basic missions again and again gets old fast.

I gifted henke Satellite Reign and politely pointed out that this has up to 4-player co-op too. I reckon that could be a right hoot.

I keep fishing for co-op buddies, and no-one bites, but Diablo 3 is aces in co-op, and I would imagine even more so with you lot. Unfortunately, it looks like their sale has ended, so it's rather expensive again now (£24.99 for the complete game including the expansion).

I have Shadow Warrior 2 on GOG. I recommend you lot get it too if you haven't already so we can have maximum Wang. While overall not as tight as New Doom, the freedom of movement the game allows is awesome, and it's genuinely laugh-out-loud funny. That and I'm not sure New Doom's co-op options are good. Willing to give that a shot too mind you!

Also, ZDaemon for the original Doom has an excellent co-op mode where you can endlessly play community released maps, and it will download them and the necessary files for you. I think I remember reading that ZDaemon's been made obsolete now by a new mod, but I can't recall its name.

I also reckon the Serious Sam games could be worth a look. I remember playing the First Encounter two-player co-op with a friend a long time ago, and the boss fights were AWESOME.

Yeah, yeah, I'm on a bit of a FPS binge at this point, but I reckon original Quake could well be worth looking in to for co-op shenanigans as well. It's old enough that there are a load of well established community campaigns out there.

I also have a buttload of other ARPGs across my library, including Van Helsing, Victor Vran, Torchlight 1 & 2, and Grim Dawn, but outside of Diablo 3, the only one of those that really appeals to me in co-op is Grim Dawn. Anyone else up for that? Of course, that's by the guys who made Titan Quest, and I'm guessing you lot probably have that too.

I like Jesh's suggestion of Monaco. I've only ever played it single-player, and I never completed it.

Who here hasn't played Arcanum in co-op?

There's a boatload of other stuff that has co-op potential, but I'll give it a rest there.

3: As for adding mods to Arma 2, sure, why not? Again, I'm not massive-keen on the game overall, but I'm willing to spice it up a bit.
Couple of additional comments by me:

There are definitely a lot of games mentioned that I'd be up for: Arma 3, Monaco, Satellite Reign, Elite Dangerous. I'd also love to do some SWAT 4 coop, but only if enough people (i.e. at least 4) are up for it, because from what I remember it's quite the hassle these days to set up and run online.

If enough people are interested in any ARPG, I could imagine joining, but they're not at the top of my list of favourite genres, and I've played through Diablo 3 twice already (on PS3/PS4).

One thing I was wondering: would it be an idea to have someone else responsible each week for the Saturday session, and they pick a game and run the session? If there were 2-3 people, that'd also make it easier to go with different games.
