Rovers and shuttles that are player-buildable would probably be a good idea. I could see especially the first tier of simpler ones as coming from a build kit or a few build kits of predefined parts/sections. I like the look of that trade shuttle, also. I think it's a good look for a basic shuttle. I could see vehicles being very useful, even if all you implemented were just basic ones. I have never built up to the complexity of a mothership yet anyway, so I can't comment meaningfully on that.

More random "accidents" too would help, like flying mothership and a tank ruptures and causes a small explosion. Would need to land and fix on the spot, or find a base to land at and get parts. Give us the tools to create our own stories.

You are never going to please everybody. I think the game needs more "fun" rather then complexity right now. Add in some weather like dust storms on Mars and give us a rover to drive around and explore in. Right now there is basically no point in leaving your initial landing area. Maybe instead of ores scattered all over, concentrate them more so we have to set up a mining base. Give us reasons to use the game mechanics. We need a reason to build more bases and explore. I dream of having a base camp where I set up my rover and mothership and then go on mining expeditions and such and have to come back to base to resupply and repair equipment. Surgery would be a cool feature once you can explore and do other things but right now it is hard enough to just set up a basic base. There needs to be a balance between being complex and letting players actually get stuff done. Automation and logic is neat, but should not be forced on everyone and should not be the main focus or endgame imo.
