First of all very excited about this title and then is there a chance that we can use present day ships and subs in a dynamic campaign using the powerful carriers , cruisers, destroyers and subs in this present day ?

How high is the mortality rate for NATO subs in this? I would expect it to be quite high, with Helicopters capable of dropping depth charges right on your sub and with anti-sub missiles on some Soviet ships. Any way to kill the Kamov Ka 27s?

They've a few times that surface vessels will not be player controlled in the initial release. I suppose there is always a possibility of exploring that in the future but a lot of that depends on the overall success of the game.

I agree I really want to be able to control ships too like your last two games because I loved the Atlantic fleet layout and instead of shooting but evading and firing missiles with destroyers.

If you involve controlable ships you could double your ratings and poupularity.

Please don't limit player control to subs only (if nothing else, then as a DLC). Make this a modern Atlantic Fleet.

Is the escort in the background a Grisha class frigate?
Also, I like how you included Keflavik as it was in the original book :)

You simply point and hold the mouse button. LMB transits at high speed, RMB at tactical speed, and releasing the buttons equals drifting at 0-5 kts. This allows you to employ sprint and drift tactics on the strategic map. Depth is coupled to speed in that the sub will always attempt to transit below cavitation depth, usually 700-900 feet at high speed, 250 feet at tactical speed and 150 feet while drifting.

So performing an end around on the map would put you at 5kts and 150 feet deep with the enemy force at long range coming towards you, which is an advantageous position. Likewise if you run into enemies at high speed, you may be going 25+ knots in the middle of an enemy formation, which is not so good.

The game launches into 3D when you detect and engage enemies on the map. Before combat starts, you can pre-load weapons, and we have an option to try and close range, which may or may not fail and hand initiative to the enemy.

How exactly does travelling on the strategic map work? Do we have control over the specifics of the sub such as speed and depth, or do we simply set points to travel to?

Also, can we launch into 3D at any time, or is this pre-determined?

Looks great!

If you sink or damage a majority of them, you can mission kill the formation and win the mission.
